Absolutely love this place! Have been going for years. Superb Indian food in the heart of Mount Washington Valley. Shalamar of India food is inspired by the Punjab region of India, which is the foodie region of India. The chicken tikka masala, saag paneer, garlic naan, and vegetable pekora are my favorite! Also, the plum sauce is delicious. And don’t forget a mango lassi or their famous Indian chai! Highly, highly, highly recommend this delicious restaurant. As someone who has actually traveled to India, I can say it compares to authentic Indian food. Grateful to have this restaurant in North Conway.

Indian food is very complex, featuring many spices with layers of flavors throughout. Different regions offer variations and sometimes completely different dishes.
Visiting this one gives you a very mild introduction to the cuisine. You tailor the spiciness level, but we were disappointed in some of the dishes that were made too Americanized. For instance, the malai Kosta was super sweet. Why? The chicken tikka Masala was sweet too. Again, why?
Overall, everything was decent but not outstanding.

The food was very bad it smelled like rotten food when opened. We were a group of 9 people. And when I called them up for expressing our concern he was very rude saying that there's nothing like that so I suggest no one to go to this place. WORST FOOD!!!!

It was take out order and after going to our place when we opened the box it smelled so bad especially the veg biryani it was smelling rotten . So we called this so called restaurant and they didn’t even care to listen us. He was kinda rude when he was talking over the phone. So I suggest no one to visit this place

Disappointing Experience – Not Accommodating to Families or Groups
We had a disappointing experience at this restaurant. They do not accommodate groups, and the owner specifically mentioned they cannot serve more than 2–3 people at a time. Even when we offered to sit at separate tables as a family, our request was still declined. If the restaurant has such restrictions, it should be clearly stated on their website or reservation policy. To add to the frustration, we were offered takeout instead — which made little sense since we arrived at 6:30 PM intending to dine in. Overall, very poor customer service and an unwelcoming attitude toward families.

We had a wonderful meal here tonight. The food was great, appetizers, biryani and lamb vindaloo. And the owners are very nice and attentive. Surprised to find such a good Indian restaurant way up here.

This was the first place I ever tried Indian food when I was a teenager. Almost twenty years later and I'm still a fan!

Absolutely awesome! Chicken Korma and Lamb Saag. Delicious. Great service, very attentive without being intrusive. Makes a great change from regular vacation food.😊

Absolutely loved this place! The food was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly spiced—every dish tasted authentic and made with care. The service was warm and attentive, and the atmosphere was inviting, making it a great spot for both family dinners and date nights. Easily one of the best Indian restaurants we’ve been to, and we’ll definitely be coming back!
