Don't ever go to this bar in heels. The floors are wet, slippery, and there is trash everywhere. Also, there was a fly in my drink under the ice.
Local college bar! Beers and shots!
One of the first weekends I purchased a LineLeap skip-the-line pass, I never ended up using it. I contacted LineLeap directly and was told the bar could call for reimbursement, and I would also be refunded.
Last night, when I asked about this, a bouncer directed me to an older man. Instead of handling the situation professionally, he chose to publicly insult me for even asking. I explained that I live with type I diabetes (a chronic illness) and that my blood sugar had dropped that night, so I chose not to go out and use the pass. His response was, word for word “that’s on you, maybe you shouldn’t be here tonight then”. He then literally ran off while I was responding. At his age, he should know better than to mock someone’s medical condition. I had waited over an hour, paid nearly $30, and still have a receipt showing I never redeemed anything. Instead of fair treatment, I was humiliated to the point of leaving in tears.
No customer deserves to be treated this way, and I’ll make sure others know exactly how this place handles people.
Don’t ever go here. It is a college bar in full. Locals can’t have fun, the students are rowdy and aggressive and the staff are “i didn’t see it, not my problem.” And will try to make you the villain when you complain. This is not a place I would recommend locals to go to or out of towners to go to. If you live in Durham, go to other businesses because they care about safety for patrons Libby’s doesn’t. If you live in Durham, also consider moving out because if Libby’s is the main watering hole, it’s not worth going to.

Food is surprisingly good for bar food. Highly recommend the fried pickles. Bar is unfortunately dead unless its a Thursday or Saturday night.

Food poisoning a regular occurrence including week of 10/10/25. Not ok. I’m honestly shocked it’s still in business. This is sad and disappointing because it’s a beloved staple of Durham UNH students and the community. Something has to change. Wake up, Libby’s….you know there’s an issue. Your community needs you to be and do better!
Assaulted by a random bartender for no reason then tried to withhold my card from me. Absolutely uncalled for and hilarious to say the least.
I moved to Durham in 2014 and this establishment at the time was a core aspect of downtown. I lead a concert series at UNH and would frequently take guests here following their performances as it is a short walk from the local hotels. Since the pandemic happened they are barely open, keeping hours that make no sense. I had hoped to take a recent artist to this place following their performance and the doors were locked at 10:15PM… on a Friday night. In a D1 R1 college town. The food isn’t what it used to be and the atmosphere is exactly the same as it was 10 years ago. I wish someone would buy this place and operate it for the community at large rather than for a few hours on “Thirsty” Thursdays and Saturdays for the UNH kids. Skip this place.
I've never written a review in my life, but the people need to know. The staff from top to bottom are self-important and unnecessarily aggressive. They do not deserve business of any kind. If Durham has the real estate for it, they should put in a competing restaurant bar and put Libby's down once and for all.

it's a rite of passage if you go to UNH...
the basement is always chaotic, at least during the schoolyear. it's basically a club. so if you like crowded clubs, definitely come here. one downside is that the toilets in the basement have no dividers, and people make small talk with you as you do your business ?
This bar is not like I remember it anymore. A couple days ago, half our wedding party got in and the other half initially denied entry around 11:30. Two calm, kind staff members agreed to let us in (I wanted to buy everyone a round), and most of us got in. However the last three of us were met with a different staff member yelling and swearing at us. He told us to leave and called the police over. The police seemed confused but had a respectful conversation with me. I'm told the man went around the establishment screaming at all of our party members including the bride and groom who were calmly seated enjoying drinks. No clear explanation was given. I wish we could have worked something out and all had a good, fun, respectful night. I understand the need for aggression in extreme circumstances, but what happened to us was severely unprofessional and disrespectful.

Used to have outstanding food but our experience last night was disappointing. Nachos and chicken fingers overcooked. Lack of meat and cheese on the unlayered nachos made it a poor value. Quesadilla was good and stir fry was good despite no broccoli (86). Casey, the bartender was awesome though.

Imagine being the second best bar in Durham, New Hampshire. Bums work here.
