“We had found this place while visiting the area and checked out the reviews. We had a busy day and planned for dinner around 7. We had about a 20 minute wait but were able to get a cocktail in the bar area. There was live music that night which was very good. The place was busy. Our server was very friendly. My husband was hoping for the prime rib special but we were too late as they ran out. He did have a nice rib eye dinner that he really enjoyed. I ate a little lighter enjoying a Caesar salad which was pretty basic but enjoyed very much as it was not saturated in dressing, just the right amount. I also had the seafood chowder which I was really in the mood for. It was excellent, great flavors and tasted fresh. The whole dining experience was very good .“

Began with fried shrooms which were over-fried and barely identifiable inside the batter. The House Special pizza was not special😫 It was thin, sparsely covered with toppings and very greasy with bland sauce. Same bland sauce on the plain cheese pizza. “Went tonight, and for being very frequent diners, I was pretty shocked with the turn of events tonight. Our server, Joshua, was amazing and I do not fault him at all. We ordered the totchos which were so yummy!! And I ordered the Camp Steak, the same meal I get every time I go - I’ve had it close to a dozen times in recent years. After we finished the appetizer, the meal took about 30 additional minutes to come out, which seemed long but looking at other reviews, maybe their “norm”. Joshua even apologized on two separate occasions saying “the steak takes a while.” When it finally arrived, I was so disappointed. Apparently they “revamped” the menu and it came with a dry, inedible horseradish “crust” on top. I wish I took a picture of it - It looked so unappetizing I almost didn’t even dig in. However, I’m not one to complain often, and I was so looking forward to the steak, so I peeled right off. I think it had been sitting for some time cause it came off the steak like a block of concrete. I dug into the steak and potatoes (which I was again disappointed in because they had no flavor, due to the comparison of the delicious former potatoes with the yummy sauce). Now, in Camp’s defense, I did ask for my steak “rare to medium rare” and jokingly said “as rare as you can legally cook it,” but it wasn’t even cooked. I like a good mooing steak but this was likely not “legally to temperature”. This was mind boggling since it took SO long for the meal to come out, and that we were told “the steak takes so long cook”. I asked for it to go back to be cooked more but in the time that took the other at the table had finished so I asked for it to be boxed up - I didn’t want to be the only one at the table eating, especially after it had taken so long. Now, the only reason I’m here writing this review is because of how it was handled. I was expecting maybe to take off 20-50% of that meal - not the bill, just that meal. It wasn’t cooked, it had a dry disturbing crust on top, and it took forever to come out. But nothing…. Bill was given with two Swedish Fish and another rote apology. The manager Jason did come to the table to collect our payment and asked if we “wanted a dessert to go” but by that point the bad taste was already in my mouth (literally, I tried the crusty stuff from the second attempt and it was so strong and freezing cold) and I wanted to go home. I am so disappointed that this was how it was handled - it is not the standard we’ve been used to with Camp (whereas the standard up until now is we have had ZERO issues or complaints - it’s our favorite place to get a great, reliable meal.) I understand everyone has an “off night” but when things are that far off, at least try to make it right, and not with offering a dessert as we are getting ready to leave. And, for those who love the Camp Steak, please let this be your warning that the newly “revamped” version is not even close to the original!! “This is a very unassuming Chinese restaurant. It’s been around for decades. It is our ‘go to’ for Chinese cuisine. Whether you dine in (casual, family friendly atmosphere) or take out (which is very popular), you know you are going to get really good food!
