We were there for our 56th Anniversary. The meal and service were great. We sat in the Tavern. We go there every year and have never been disappointed. This year was especially awesome because a wonderful person paid for our meal and it wasn’t cheap.. who does that? What a wonderful surprise. Thank you to the wonderful person that did that, very much appreciated .

My sister and I both felt ill afterwards. The food managed to be fairly tasteless but still upset our stomachs. The décor and furniture is outdated and on the shabby side.

Last night we celebrated my husbands 80th birthday at Kingston 1686 House. There were 17 of us. I can’t speak highly enough about the wonderful experience we had. Owner Marlene worked with me throughout the entire planning and actual event. Christie was fantastic with her seamless service. Food was excellent. I recommend this place for a quiet dinner, or a large event.

We came without reservations early Friday night, the parking lot was almost full, but we were seated in a very quiet room facing the side street. Only when we were leaving did other folks show up in our room. Our waitress was very pleasant. The prime rib was thin, but very tender, which my husband liked the best. Only one side came with the dish which was disappointing, considering most places give you two.So opted to have their clam chowder before our dinner. It was worth the price. To be honest, we were actually looking for another old restaurant in Kingston but got confused because of the town was holding its annual fair.We will be back another time.

Never disappoints! Except when we miss getting oysters-they are so good and it is the most popular item so we understand.Have had several dishes and working our way through the menu.

My husband and I go here about once a month. The rack of lamb and Filet Mignon are the best anywhere, and reasonably priced. The salad and vegetable are always fresh. We think this is a hidden gem!

The food is unbelievable and the service is amazing. The ambiance is fun, usually locals having dinner. A great place to eat.

The quiet, dining room in "the Barn" made the perfect evening to celebrate my mother in law's birthday dinner. Three gals accommodating everyone in the place did not delay the meal, drinks or desserts. I've waited longer for service with three times the staff in other restaurants! Personable and attentive. The prime rib was outstanding. Vegetables grown in the owner's (chef) garden. Good portion and good drinks. I'm coming back with more family! Thanks 1686!

3 tables with guests and bar 3/4 full.1 bartender & 2 server’s working. We were told ( 3 of us) someone would bring a menu. After 35 minutes with no one greeting us or menu, I found a menu on my own.Seemed the 2 servers would only wait on 1 table at a time from start to finish. As we started to leaveafter 45 minutes, the bartender came over and said she would wait on us since the other 2 didn’t! .Bartender provided good service, though slow do to taking care of bar as well.Food was excellent! Worth the wait.Maybe only the chef in kitchen doing it all?!Place didn’t get busy at all. A Friday night.Dirty tray of glasses and dirty table left uncleared the entire time!I will expect the 1686 Kingston House to go out of business if this is how they operate.Open at 4. We arrived about 6:30 left at 9:30!

What a wonderful restaurant and lounge! We eat some wonderful entries at the bar and had some delicious drinks!Since moving into the area I’ve been wanting to go here as Ive found out it was a favorite hang of a great ancestor of mine “Joshia Bartlett” though from what I learned the tavern had been burned down to make way for the expansions to what what is there now! Still it was a joy. Lots of private rooms for private functions and weddings. Very much early New England charm! Even the ladies powder room was done in a cute and feminine cottage style. Definitely check it! It was really quite the Thursday night we were there.
