The son that works there Jeovandtai is rude and unprofessional. Food dry and over priced. The food is not worth the prices they’re asking.

After living in Texas for 15 years, my husband and I have tried Texas style BBQ places in dozens of states. Few come close to what we had down south, none have ever truly compared and R & J have managed to surpass even some of our Southern Favorites. The chicken was perfectly cooked. Moist and tender and seasoned to perfection. This is what set R & J apart from the TX BBQ houses they surpassed. Oftentimes the Chicken was seen as a necessary evil and treated as such. Never have I had it so delicately balanced between moist, tender, flavorful and delicious. The onion rings are proper onion rings with a deliciously crispy outer shell and the onion stays with the ring for every bite. The coleslaw was crisp and fresh with a perfect coleslaw flavor. It was well dressed, again, goldilocks style, just right. The green beans and bacon were quiet tasty and I ate so many of my vegetables I didn’t leave room to eat my dessert!A final note that they really will try and make it however you want. I asked to have a little love added and I they definitely obliged :).We are so happy to have found R & J’s BBQ and are truly excited to go back for more!

The food was amazing. We expected it to be good but our expectations were greatly exceeded. Not your run-of-the-mill Cisco frozen food you find in most modern establishments. This is the real deal, home-cooked, farm to table dining, at its best. You will not be disappointed. Can't wait to go back again. Great portions too!

This hands down is some of the worse BBQ I have ever had. we were the only ones in the store. your assistant by an older lady who had zero ounce of friendliness. We bought a three meat plater. pulled pork and pulled chicken and sausage. we got two sides big beans and macaroni and cheese. The meats were flavorless and were dry. The bbq sauce was aweful. and we were only offered one flavor sauce..Macaroni Tastes exactly like something you get from craft. We left the plate and did not eat what we bought. Please look into your customer service and work on food because it needs some flavor

My husband and I ordered 2 days ago. One thing I will say is that my husband got the Brisket and loved it. The fries were somewhat soggy, but we actually liked them like that lol. However, the fact that my fries had more flavor than the seafood etouffe blew my mind. I paid $24 for that, and it tasted like water- like there was no salt or any of the creole seasonings. I was having serious cravings, so I was thinking some OG seafood from a southern place would really hit the spot. It smelled so good, then i tasted it & I wanted to cry lol. The design looks really nice inside, and the servers are very sweet. My husband speculates that their specialty may just not be the seafood, but maybe i just got a bad plate. I'm hoping they improve their recipe over time. I could've done better. I've had Gumbo & I thought it would taste similar. First time i had Etouffe, and regret getting it from here. I really do wish you guys the best, but I was just really dissappointed that day, could've gotten much better for the money.

Just went to this restaurant in Hillsboro for the first time, but it will definitely not be our last! Everything was delicious! From the complimentary hot cornbread, to the soup appetizers (we tried the gumbo and the bell pepper soup; yum!), to the meats (we loved the brisket, chicken, and grilled shrimp), to the sides (my favorite was the homemade sweet potato fries). After all that, we were way too full (with leftovers to take home too), but it was all so good that we decided to try a dessert. The peach cobbler was fantastic! We can hardly wait to go back again. This is our new favorite restaurant!

Got the Pulled Pork Sandwich. The Bun was cold. Taken straight from Refrigerator. What, can’t warm or toast the bun. Fries were extra greasy and soggy. Pulled Pork was just ok. Wanted to charge $3 extra for coleslaw. Didn’t eat fries or bun and server or manager could careless. Not even an apology. I certainly won’t be back. Corn bread was only thing good.

Staff was very pleasant & attentive. Food to table a bit long. Could use more white wine selection. Fried shrimp was good. I prefer crispy fries My husband enjoyed the beef & chicken brisket. I tried it & would order that next time (I was afraid it might be spicey)

Food is very good and plentiful. Took 35 minutes after seating to have someone take our drink order and decided to order dinner as well told the chicken would take 20 to 30 minutes. Asked for our soups and Salas to come first. After 20 minutes we were again approached for our drink order. All this time there were 4 people standing behind the counter and we had to get their attention. 15 minutes later asked to confirm our order, told chicken would take a least 20 minutes for the chicken. All in all, dinner took us close to 3 hours from start to finish. Good food but not unless you have time. New restaurant so probably trying to get things going. Will try again to see if it gets better.

We ordered barbecue here for the first time and were blown away by how good it was. To get an idea of the food we ordered the Meat Sampler, which was a very large portion of various foods: pulled pork, ribs, brisket, chicken, hamburger and a pork chop. Also a portion of delicious potatoes unlike any we’ve ever tasted and coleslaw. We especially liked the pulled pork, the brisket, and the ribs, but that is just quibbling - everything was amazing. The barbecue sauce is Texas style and very tasty. The owner and his family and staff are as friendly and service minded as can be. The service was prompt. We will recommend this place to all our friends. Welcome to Hillsboro.

This is amazing food, all home cooked and it shows! The staff are friendly and attentive.Be prepared to wait because it’s home cooked but it’s well worth the wait! Don’t go when you are in a rush, this is a sit and enjoy your time kind of place! Our waitress Kylie was a delight!!!
