We’ve been wanting to try this place out for a while and finally made it a few weeks ago. We ordered the enchiladas and the grilled chicken. The grilled chicken was actually quite flavorful. However, the rice and beans lacked much flavor. I have some serious concerns about the service which I describe below.

We love La Catrina! Cheese dip is the bomb and food is so good. Best happy hour in town!
La Catrina makes the best margaritas and the food is authentic and so good. This is our default eat out place and we love the staff and atmosphere.

If I could I'd exclusively eat their chorizo tacos, burrito cochinita pibil and the pineapple fajitas on rotation. Their enchiladas are also delicious! If they offered the cochinita pibil pork as a taco meat I'd be in super heaven.
Their drinks are great and the bar/servers work incredibly hard. Watching them on a taco Tuesday or a Friday/Saturday night its crazy watching their rhythm.
Skinny marg and house marg are what we usually order but also they carry the guava Jarritos which is hard to find and is my favorite so big plus.
My only complaint is that the men's bathroom always smells awful and I've been going here for 5 years.

It's difficult to find good Mexican food in the northeast, even more so outside of Boston, but La Catrina is actually worth visiting! It's a small thing but the Tortilla chips were so addictively good that they threatened to fill us up before our entrees arrived, very crunchy, and the guacamole was abundant and well made. We both got fajitas and found the portion sizes impressive, I don't think you'll be leaving hungry at all.
My two minor complaints are that the table we sat on was somewhat too small to fit all of the food, I was putting my drink cup on the window sill to keep it from getting knocked over. The last complaint is that as a Mexican restaurant, I personally feel that you should carry a very spicy hot sauce to delight and humble your patrons. All you would need to do is print out a generic waiver to protect yourself from any liability for them to sign.
Those are very minor and somewhat picky gripes on our part, we'd love to come back.

We enjoyed our anniversary dinner. I had a Mango Tango and my husband had a Bahama Mama. We both enjoyed our drinks. Our dinners were delicious and had plenty for leftovers!!

I'm sad. Ordered steak Burrito Colorado. It had only steak in it, no sauce, and the steak was rubbery. This place is not worth even whispering the name of. Stale chips.

Great, authentic Mexican food, like when I lived in CA. To save time, we did takeout and am very happy with all the “extras” added to the bag. What a great value!
We’ve dined in, more than we do takeout and the atmosphere is fun, comfortably cozy. This is my GO TO Mexican restaurant in the greater Portsmouth area!

Im a tough critic when it comes to Mexican restaurants because I feel like most Mexican restaurants around here are just cheese and carbs but everything I've had from here is above average for the area! Pollo Poblano, burritos, chimichangas, ceviche, etc. Even the salsa they give you before your meal is filled with flavor! The only ding I need to give is for the flour tortillas they use. In my opinion, mexican restaurants should be either making their own tortillas or use better than regular store-bought tortillas 🤷♀️

Probably my favorite restaurant of all time. Food is soo delicious and authentic, great prices, staff is very pleasant and overall atmosphere is very cozy. I would highly recommend a visit to La Catrina if you’re in Newmarket or surrounding areas.
I've always loved the crunchy chicken wings here However, they changed them to be like everyone else's Very disappointing
Cool place with great service, food, and drinks!
It was our first time there, and we will be regular customers now!
Best Mexican food on the seacoast of New Hampshire. Authentic, family-run restaurant with great drinks at a reasonable price.
