Although the menu was terrific...the execution was mediocre. Service was top shelf.

My husband and I dined here during restaurant week, for our anniversary. We decided on Botanica because of the reviews. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience. For appetizers we had a green salad and the arctic char. The salad was okay, it did lovely blue cheese that was locally sourced, but there were only 4 pieces of it at the bottom of the salad. The house vinaigrette was average. The arctic char was rubbery. We both had the lamb as our entree. It was very dry and overcooked. The veggies were undercooked. The meal was deeply unsatisfying. The desserts were also very disappointing. The olive oil cake was dry.my husband had the chocolate torte which was soggy and sour. Definitely won’t be returning. I’m not sure how this place is so highly reviewed.

Sneakily the best dinner in Portsmouth, while also being our favorite place to grab a drink and an app

Great meal here after a long day of travel. Flavors were so unique and delicious. Really good veggie options. The two women serving/running the ship were lovely. House Martini was excellent.

Amazing cocktails, perfectly crafted. Excellent food at reasonable prices. Friendly and knowledgeable staff and nice patio for outdoor seating. Perfect date night!

We’ve been coming here for years and usually love both the food and service, but today was an exception. We arrived exactly 15 min late (not 20 as claimed) and were initially refused our table; once seated, the service felt more like a reluctant favor than the usual welcoming vibe. Hopefully just a one-off, since we normally enjoy this place so much.

One of my favorite meals in recent memory! We had the best duck confit, pork belly, and hanger steak! Really blown away! And the chocolate soufflé is perfection! Super impressed!!

I dined here on a weekday evening. Delicious food, excellent service, and an extensive selection of wine and spirits. Ambience and background music was perfect for an evening out.

My wife and I really enjoyed our first meal at Botanica. The menu was varied, with a nice mix of some classic and innovative dishes. The restaurant is small which makes the atmosphere very cozy and chill. The service we received was very personal and pleasant.

We tried the bluefish, duck confit, mushroom ragou and grilled peaches, all of which was delicious. We also enjoyed exploring the gin options.
