We ordered the Halibut and Swordfish. A bit pricey but they were both delicious. Service was outstanding.

I go to Portsmouth a few times a year, but this was my first visit. Whoa - I’ve been missing out! My partner and I went on the recommendation of a friend who used to live in the area. Jumpin’ Jay’s was incredibly delicious. The seafood fettuccini was a beautiful dish with shrimp, scallops, lobster and cherry tomatoes. Perfect blend of flavors. My partner loved his oysters and the lobster bisque. Super velvety and rich. His linguine and clams were good, but I could tell he was jealous of my seafood extravaganza. I shared because that’s the kind of partner I am. Tee hee. Service from Jade and the rest of the team was exceptional. Norm, the manager, also came over to see how everything was. That meal was so good. I can’t wait to go back.

Wowwww! What a fantastic place! Bartenders were fast and attentive, food was above reproach. Oysters were amazing! Highly reccomend going anytime they are open. Nice atmosphere low light and high decadence.

We went here for dinner with the family and it was very good. The food was really fresh and had bold flavors.

To start they bring you bread with butter and olives and roasted garlic cloves. The bread was warm and fresh and good when you mixed the butter with the garlic.

For appetizers we ordered a crab cake, a dozen oysters and a dozen little neck clams. All were very tasty, the clams bring our favorite.

Dinner was the haddock picatta, clams and linguine, seafood pasta, and the haddock with lobster veloute and the miso ginger sauce. All of the entrees were near perfect with decent portions and well cooked seafood. The pasta was also made in house and you could tell.

For dessert we shared the brown butter cookie dish which was like a deep dish cookie with ice cream and it was very good.

The service was fine, nothing fancy or that special but also nothing bad.

Stopped here for a quick drink and ended up staying for dinner and had a GREAT time. Tamina is absolutely AMAZING! She was singing, boisterous, funny, and put on a good show and made great drinks!
Kirsten was excellent... every time she showed up it was with something else that was delicious. Chloe was also super friendly, as was another waitress who answered some questions about the menu.
The food was great. We had Oysters, Cocktail Shrimp, Lobster Bisque, Calamari, Seafood Pasta, and the Tuna Tartar.
Was absolutely thrilled with the experience and would go back in a heartbeat!
One recommendation - add a big steak to your menu!

After years away we looked forward to a return visit to Jay's for a nice winter evening dinner. The vibe was cozy and happily not as loud as remembered. The service was friendly, and the base menu included the classic offering of fish and sauce of your choice, some imaginative entrees, and on this weekend some Valentine's Day specials. My scallops special was composed and prepared very well -- delicious. The Willamette Valley pinot noir was excellent. However, our Caesar salad was carelessly prepared, with dry, limp lettuce and virtually no dressing; better left uneaten. Additionally, my wife's halibut entree was disappointing. It seemed overcooked, with excessively chewy texture. And the vegetables seemed barely cooked, perhaps just briefly steamed, and flavorless. These dishes are priced to be really nailed every time, and this one fell short. I was surprised, and couldn't help but think they are getting complacent and have lost their passion after many successful years. I'm sorry to say that next time we would probably go back to Surf on Bow street.

Fish is great (which is why you come to this restaurant). But interior is basic, we were sitting next to the door and the cold wind blew in every time a guest would come in and out (despite the curtain). Tables and furniture are also basic.

The Thai halibut dish is great! We had a very nice waitress who steered our party of two the right way. Would return.

We love Jumping Jay's! Our first time back in over five years, but it is still wonderful. I had swordfish and my spouse had haddock. Our meals were excellent! The fish was fresh and the sauces were delicious. The accompanying vegetables were tender crisp, fresh, and delicious. We love their bread, roasted garlic and olives complimentary appetizer. They have a nice wine selection and fair prices for a special occasion. Not a cheap night out, but the service and quality are worth the treat. We'll definitely return next time we're in Portsmouth.

This is a super cute place. Good for a date or a night out. I didn't love the menu and what I ordered, steamed mussels w fries on top 🤔 I would not order again. The fries were good but the combination just didn't work. Staff was ltl too comfortable, with ppl off shift in uniform acting like it was there personal living room playing videos on their phone. Wasn't a fan of that. Seemed like a good turn out though so locals are happy w it and it's been around a long time. Shuck a buck on Tuesday. Parking in Portsmouth can be a challenge but there is an affordable lot and it's def a place worth going. I would do JJ's again, maybe try the tuna tartar, lobster bisque or the calamari. Loved the ginger cocktail I got👍

Wow! Best calamari I’ve ever had. The Halibut with curry sauce was amazing on top of veggies. A friend had the monkfish but didn’t realize it had a red sauce, which he didn’t care for but said the fish had a delicious taste. Highly recommend!
