Surf Portsmouth in Portsmouth, NH is an outstanding restaurant that captures the essence of fresh seafood with a vibrant and inviting atmosphere. From the moment I walked in, the waterfront views and chic coastal decor set the perfect tone for a memorable meal. The staff greeted us warmly and were attentive throughout, balancing professionalism with a casual friendliness that made us feel right at home. We tried a variety of dishes, starting with a deluxe sampler plate featuring oysters, clams, shrimp cocktail, and smoked salmon that impressed with its freshness and generous portions. For the main course, the Ahi tuna steak and Korean BBQ scallops were both cooked perfectly and packed with flavor, offering excellent quality that justified the portions. I especially appreciated how the staff was knowledgeable about the menu and happy to accommodate substitutions, such as swapping asparagus for another vegetable. The espresso martini was a highlight in the cocktail selection—smooth and expertly made. While the place gets quite lively and busy, especially on weekends, the energetic vibe adds to the overall experience rather than detracts from it. Surf Portsmouth is a fantastic destination for seafood lovers looking for fresh, diverse options and exceptional service in a lively waterfront setting. Nice waterfront location, with Maine just across. The lobster rolls were delicious; I liked the traditional (cold) one better that the hotel one. Our waitress Abbie was amazing, super attentive and helpful. A great lunch break on our way north.

Grab yourself a river view seat and enjoy a wonderful meal. Attentive and knowledgeable staff, nice presentation and wonderful place. Don't pass on the oysters and hopefully they will have Mere Point, one of the best oysters you will ever have. Enjoy!!

New go-to. Sunday night was my 3rd visit. Crispy garlic and tuna has had us coming back. Sunday night we shared the fish and chips and salmon with the cauliflower and dill hollandaise as well. Highly recommend both dishes. Incredible pieces of fish, cooked to perfection. The fish and chips may have been the best ever. Juicy piece of fish, light crispy batter. Love that salmon dish as well. Compliments to the chef for doing it right.

Potato had taste and texture of instant potatoes. Portions small and prices high ($35-$50 per dinner). Wine serving was a quarter of the glass. When you are spending $40 for a small fish dinner you expect the potatoes to be “real”.
