The Oar House Reviews
My son and I had dinner there this Saturday evening haddock “franchaise” sandwich sounded wonderful on the menu, it came out burnt and the cheese on top wasn’t even melted, it was small and dried out. My son got a lobster roll also small and it cost $45 with a few fries on the side. So over priced and so poorly prepared. We have been there several times in the past and meals have been fair, my son likes it there because of the history and the location, we won’t return.
I work at the Moffatt-Ladd House across the street and have been meaning to come over and experience their menu, as we often have overlapping customers.
Our host sat us right away, drinks were fabulous, and all the meals were absolutely amazing! (I had the caribbean grilled swordfish.) My mom had been here with her parents in college in the early 80s and clearly Casey is carrying the mantle well. Thank you especially to our server, Rachel!
AMAZING FOOD!!! SERVICE WAS GREAT

The Oar House provides an excellent dining experience with great food, drinks, and friendly, attentive staff. The atmosphere is lovely, especially in the old dockside buildings, which create a cozy and vibrant setting. Guests can enjoy their meals outside on the deck, making it a perfect spot for summer nights in New England. The restaurant is capable of accommodating large groups and is convenient for those with time constraints. While upstairs seating is better suited for larger, louder groups, downstairs seating offers a quieter atmosphere for private conversations. Recent diners have praised dishes like the bacon wrapped scallops and Lobster Ravioli for their incredible flavors, though some noted that the portion sizes could be improved. Parking is conveniently located off-street in front of the dockside deck. Overall, The Oar House is highly recommended for its delicious food, great service, and inviting atmosphere.
