Last month my partner and I were was passing through the area on a motorcycle trip and had wonderful stay at the Independence Inn. Our stay was quiet, super cozy, and relaxing. The innkeepers Tyler and Sara were fabulous! The self serve breakfast/snack kitchenette for guests was great, nothing fancy, but definitely a plus and helped us fuel up before hitting the road. I'd recommend staying at the Inn!

We had breakfast there and it was the best. My wife and I will go there again.

The mattress in room 2 is one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in, the food at jefferson is great, checkin and checkout was really easy, would recommend it to anyone

Loved our stay and would definitely go back.
This 200 year old house is so charming.
We were met with smiles and friendship from the new inn keepers.
Our breakfast was delicious. The best French toast I’ve had in awhile.

Review:
We had a lovely stay at this charming 200-year-old inn, nestled in a picturesque village by the lake. The setting was peaceful and full of character. The inn keepers went out of their way to make us feel welcome—warm, accommodating, and genuinely friendly. One of the highlights was the on-site restaurant: the food was absolutely delicious, and the cozy, inviting atmosphere made each meal feel special. A perfect blend of history, hospitality, and great dining. We can’t wait to return!

It's a great inn with very kind and competent inn keepers. The new restaurant has some top knotch food and the small town is very scenic. The building is a bit old but everything is clean and very servicable.

Quintessential New England Inn with all the charm. Inn keepers were very welcoming. Bed was comfy, easy to adjust the room temperature. We were a few weeks too early for the restaurant re-opening, but they offer grab & go kitchenette breakfast items.

I have enjoyed my stay at the Independence Inn! The building has a cozy New England feel and is located in beautiful Strafford. My room was nice, with a gas fireplace as well as a window AC unit for temperature control. The bed was also comfortable. Having the mini-fridge was very nice to store food items. I enjoyed the complimentary breakfast items in the kitchenette, and used the French presses to make myself coffee in the mornings.

The Inn is centrally located between the major hubs of New Hampshire, and with my car I was able to get to many different places in 15-45 minutes. A reliable car is recommended if you wish to explore with the Inn as home-base! I visited Concord, Nashua, Merrimack, Manchester, Durham, Somersworth, Loudon, Weare, and Rochester during my time at the Inn. Overall, the stay was a great value, and it’s been an awesome place for me to explore the surrounding areas and get more familiar with New Hampshire.

It’s from Gilmore girls ! I love Gilmore girls ! But shouldn’t it be closed when in season 4 Sookie and Lorelai bought their own inn .

I enjoyed their penthouse suite, a very large loft area with plenty of beds to accommodate a large family or group. A full apartment and the inn has tons of amenities.
I heard the restaurant closed, sad but expectable due to the location not being near well populated areas.
It is nice and I hope to attend more events there going forward.
It is an older building with all the challenges of such but they seem responsive and forward looking with good customer service.

They just began serving brunch- on Easter. Their work flows weren't quite in place and we waited a long time for pancakes and eggs and each of us had something amiss with our order. The girl was young and had never served during this meal time before and there were new systems in place due to the new meal seating they had just started. Love the barrel chairs though. And the hostess/ Supervisor was attentive in checking in on us

This place suffers from overselling itself. We booked a family room with queen bed as a family of three. It was described on Expedia as good for family's and slept three. We expected that the free, as described on Expedia, rollabed would be set up good to go since there was the three of us, but no. The room was also directly opposite the doors to the restrooms for the restaurant on site. This is a big no no for a lot of guests and I would have liked to have been made aware of it when booking. We decided to change our room, the inn keeper did allow it for the difference in booking fee totally acceptable. There was a gas fire in the new room however no carbon monoxide alarm that I could see and this caused concern as you just never know with gas.We only text and spoke to the inn keeper on the phone until checkout, even though she stayed on site. there was no personal experience. When it came to breakfast it left a lot to be desired, we basically had to look around the kitchenette for the food offerings of cheese bagels oatmeal yoghurts and fruit. We then had to eat in the bedroom as we were unsure if we were allowed in the dining area of the restaraunt downstairs. It felt more like a self catering room than a bed and breakfast. The microwave had not been cleaned and there was chicken in the freezer from August last year. we didn't know if we should do the dishes or if the inn keeper would for H&S reasons. We had hoped to have seen the innkeeper walking around as she knew she had guests but no. I get she was probably busy but personal hospitality at some point of the 24hrs would be nice. We finally seen our inn keeper at check out to pay the difference in room cost and she seemed friendly enough. The rooms are clean apart from the previous tenants ice cream in the freezer and the garden is nice but it's not the bed and breakfast experience I am used to. A more appropriate description on expedia and A bit more of a push in the service part, this could be a very nice experience however just now it is not there.
