A quiet comfortable escape, perfect for those looking to get away or establish a jumping off point to explore southeast or central NH. Extensive and unique library, wonderful space to read, write, work, and/or connect.

We stayed at this charming six bedroom Inn for one night in the summer. The Independence Inn is the second oldest operating Inn in New Hampshire.

We chose a cozy simple room with a bed, bathroom, chair, and mini fridge. Check-in was easy, we arrived late at night and our key was waiting for us.

The rooms are surprisingly quiet for an older building. The AC worked well in the room. There are no TV’s in the rooms so it’s a nice place to go to disconnect. There are multiple seating areas throughout if you want to sit outside your room.

There’s also a restaurant, The Jefferson, onsite that serves breakfast & lunch. Complimentary continental breakfast items are included with your stay!

The Independence Inn is cute and suited us for our quick stop for the night as we made our way to our destination.

We had an amazing stay. Sara and Tyler are wonderful Innkeepers. We will be booking next years trip this week. Hint: Get the french toast for breakfast and yes do the whip cream.❤️

A cozy place to enjoy some quiet time while still being close enough to plenty of bigger cities. Even though the building is older, various renovations have kept it charming with all of the expected conveniences.

The location is great for exploring all around the South East portion of NH, while still being close to the airport. It's great to escape to a place by the lake where all of the stars are visible at night.

WiFi worked great for us, it's hooked up with local fiber service so we never had issues. Our cellphones had 1-2 bars but having the great wifi meant we were fine.

We'd come back here again to have friendly service and enjoy the most comfortable bed by the fireplace in Room 2.

My wedding party and I highly enjoyed our stay at the Independence Inn! The rooms were comfortable and the check in/out process easy. It was a charming place and we hope to stay again in the future.

Wonderful place. Historic but not at all cramped. Breakfast was great. We were not able to participate in the dinner but we will return the next time we are in NH and need to stay overnight.

Favorite surprise was the heat in our room was a gas stove controlled by a user set thermostat and the fire came on whenever it got chilly. For a couple its quite nice!

Our inn keepers were excellent hosts and very responsive to our needs. The inn served as a great launch point to go explore the state and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. Our room had a private bathroom and climate control available to us.

A cozy inn next to a lovely lake. The rooms have a charming antique aesthetic but with modern comforts such as a minifridge and other amenities. The innkeepers Tyler and Sara provided superb hospitality and kept the rooms clean as well. Their restaurant The Jefferson also has fantastic breakfast! The inn's central location makes it ideal for those who want to venture out in several different directions to see various hotspots in New Hampshire, whether you're interested in the cities, beaches, or mountains.

This is a very cute Inn that is all about character and history. Its location halfway between the Seacoast and NH's central corridor makes it perfectly located for exploring NH. I stayed for four weeks and was able to visit almost every region of the state.

A simple breakfast is included in a shared kitchenette if you're in a hurry, or the restaurant downstairs is open for breakfast through lunch most of the week with a few regulars from the area always coming by for a Bow Lake Burger or french toast with a hint of orange.

Very friendly and hard working new innkeepers were brought on early in 2025, and they've connected with the local community. Many of the locals I met there told stories about themselves or family members working at the inn decades ago, and pointed out their connection to things like the mural that covers an entire wall inside the restaurant area.

There's a little market and sandwich/pizza shop just down the street, and a swimming beach on Bow Lake beyond that. The nearest small town and grocery store are just a few minutes away on hwy 4. Wifi was consistent, and rooms each have their own character.

Great quaint stay right near Bow Lake! The breakfast was great and the beds were comfortable.

We had the executive suite which worked well for us to have a separate room with ac for the kids

Will be back!

The inn is the definition of historic New England charm, with comfortable and clean rooms. We have stayed in Room 6, Room 3, and Room 4 and all have been a pleasant experience.

The inn is walking distance from Bow Lake where there is a swimming area, public boat launch, and it’s a beautiful place to lay a blanket or go for a walk during the gorgeous NH sunsets- photos included below!

ACs for summer and gas fireplaces for the winter keep the room a nice temperature. Nice blackout curtains in each room, and very quiet and peaceful for sleep. Rooms were always clean and comfortable, extra linens stocked for guests, and basic breakfast fixin’s in the kitchenette (but try to schedule your trip when The Jefferson, the new restaurant, is open, too- it is not to be missed)!

The new innkeepers Tyler and Sara have been so kind, attentive, and welcoming, and we enjoyed getting to know them during our stay! Again, you won’t want to miss trying the new restaurant, The Jefferson, too!
Great central location for Manchester and Seacoast alike. We will be sure to return when we come back to visit NH.

Last month my partner and I were was passing through the area on a motorcycle trip and had wonderful stay at the Independence Inn. Our stay was quiet, super cozy, and relaxing. The innkeepers Tyler and Sara were fabulous! The self serve breakfast/snack kitchenette for guests was great, nothing fancy, but definitely a plus and helped us fuel up before hitting the road. I'd recommend staying at the Inn!
