Beautiful place to stay. Very friendly!
A friend and I ate here when we were attending Hillfest. Excellent food and service. What a nice, intimate place. The owner actually took time to talk with us sharing the history of the property! A must if you are in the area!
My husband and I had a fantastic stay at the Birchwood Inn and an equally fantastic meal at the Porters Tavern. Our hostess Amy was friendly and accommodating. The room was amazing! We stayed in the Royal Bath room which is the entire front face of the building on the second floor. It was lovely. Breakfast was provided in our room (cereal fruit yogurt). I really hope to get back there again!
We had a fantastic meal at Porters. The food is super tasty and the menu has great options. The usual but also creative surprises. Owners are on hand and all the staff are just great friendly people. Definitely stop in.
We ate at Porters at the Birchwood Inn in Temple tonight. The service was incredible and some of the best food and mocktails I’ve had in a long time. We got the Mango and Brie appetizer and split the garlic lime flank steak with corn succotash and smoky sweet potato mash. It was incredible! We got dessert to go as we were so full. Can’t wait to try their flatbreads next time. I’m just sad we didn’t take any pictures. The plates were arranged perfectly. We’ll be back again soon! Best food in Monadnock region!
Good food and service from past experiences. They closed for a holiday weekend. No post, nothing. Just a sign on the front door. Perhaps a regular website update would help my family as well as the other 3 families that pulled up at the same time. We all spent hours on the road that could easily be prevented with a bit of courtesy from the owners.
Good, solid food. Parking can be a bit tricky if it's a busy time.
Popped in for a quick bite and drink, and the atmosphere is amazing, the food and drink is great and the company is even better! Highly recommend if you’re looking for an off the map adventure, with great dishes. There are rooms for rent as well, which makes it a great spot to go explore and come back for a stay.
I paid $150 to stay in a room with a shower stall that did not drain for at least 15 hours after I used it for a very short shower. I reported the problem to the management and no one came to fix it. No one offered to partially compensate me for the loss of a morning shower. Otherwise the room was clean and the associated restaurant is quite good.
We had dinner there. Very pleasant atmosphere, excellent service and great food. Homemade food in the best sense of the word. Big portions, fair pricing.

Stopped in to the birchwood to try some different food! Jambalaya! Was very tasty with a cold IPA! Fairly quiet but day after thanksgiving! Will definitely try it again!
Beautiful, dining room and excellent food, for all four of us

Just a perfect little room at a beautiful inn. We checked in a tad early which was really nice of Amy & her husband Matthew. Humongous towels, cut-up fruit in mini fridge, cozy couch and comfortable bed, and the historic feel of the room layout with all its nooks were some of our favorite things about the space. The restaurant downstairs was another great convenience and their food was delicious. Thanks for a wonderful stay.
