Really cool venue. Had a water dispenser by the bar which was a nice touch
Went for the Rocky Horror Picture Show live show. While the cast was wonderful, I did not like that any outside props were banned and you were forced to buy the prop bags. It made no sense that I wasn't allowed to bring in newspaper of they were okay with me buying it inside. The security were also very rude about the dress code and made my friends take off their accessories but wouldn't agree to let them store it since our car was parked too far away.
Plenty of parking but you have to pay. The venue was spacious with a good atmosphere. Nice bar. Great to see the bands play
I would never go to this venue again I watched security kick out a gentleman who was giving Tums out to a bunch of friends who had indigestion from their drinks.
Security escorted them out. They didn't reason with them at all They just took them and just escorted him out He was dancing he was having a good time He wasn't causing any problems at all and this place kicked him out for eating Tums.
I would never go to this place again
I was dancing with this guy and he was having so much fun and then security came over and kicked him out with a flashlight I will never come to this place again I thought this place was cool Don't go here security and management are not what we fight for stay away from this place Go to another venue save your money
As a bar and venue owner I have to say the way that this place is run and w I would suggest that nobody ever gives their money to this business ever in their life I run businesses and bars across this country and when someone's having fun and security comes over and kicks them out when there is absolutely no complaints about the individual the individual isn't causing any harm to anybody they're having fun I mean maybe this individual was having too much fun if you know what I mean but he didn't harm anybody and as a business you let them stay and you let them spend their money I would suggest nobody ever goes to this venue again stay away from this place the management and the security is horrible Go to another venue that allows people to be themselves and be free We don't live in a tyrannical country anymore and we need to keep it that way and supporting businesses like this will revert us back into the dark ages stay away from Asbury Lanes never again zero stars
I don't know why anybody would ever go to this place after what I seen happen in this venue tonight there was this really cool dude dancing really hard and having fun and sharing with all sorts of people and having fun and buying them drinks and security came over and escorted them out of the place after he left the vibe in the place wasn't the same anymore I wouldn't spend money in this venue ever again it's like this venue has reverted back to the dark ages escorting people out for having fun there was no complaints about this guy The security came in front of everybody and escorted them out of the place I will never go back to Asbury Land again
I was dancing and I watched security take a guy out that wasn't doing anything at all He was hanging out who knows but he was positive He wasn't causing any problems and they escorted him out of this place He paid money he was dancing really hard and he was having fun and there was no problems in security moved him out of the venue I wouldn't I will never be going to this place again They lost my business for life I can't believe that in this day and age there are still venues with security that act like it's 1974 or 1930s why would you go to a venue that incarcerates people and kicks them out for having a good time regardless of what happened why would you throw somebody out of the place if they weren't causing any problems If nobody was hurting nobody complained Asbury Lanes is the worst venue I've ever been to in my life The sound was horrible the security was horrible the drinks sucked and the music was great but the sound sucked I will never be going here again They lost my business for a life for what they did to that gentleman
Legendary or not This place is trash The security talk about police state this place is one of the worst venues I've been to after touring with the Grateful Dead for 25 years I have never met an overendaring and overzealous and violent aggressive security in my life while eating Tums I was barrel plunged into the stage and forced outside after paying $20 to see the bands and accused of distributing drugs while I was eating Tums there was no negotiation there was no reasoning with these goons I would save your money and go to a venue that facilitates and supports music culture and community This place does not do any of that it's a cash grab Yeah it's a nice venue Yeah it's got a nice stage Yeah it's got nice sound but if you can't enjoy yourself without security reaching into your personal life and telling you that the venue wants you to leave because your distributing drugs while eating Tums This place is horrible I would never ever spend another dollar here again first and last time I will ever go to the Ashbury Lanes what a horrible disgusting display of police state brutality If you want to go and have some place where security will be looking down your throat for everything instead of facilitating an open community hang out at the Ashbury Lanes but if you don't support that kind of tyranny go to another venue save your money skip this place
Fun place to watch rock concerts. A real N.J. classic.

Great place for a concert
Minus 1 star for putting a random $160 on my card with no warning. Beautiful venue and location. Great sound. It does get packed, but that's how concerts work, lol. I think I saw it was 740 or 760-person venue. Beers were fairly cheaper than expected. Bathrooms with fine. Easy parking. Sold out show with amazing energy. Should be minus 2 stars for the card hold though.
great venue for a concert
The only issue I had and the one I haven't seen any reference too is that I was encouraged by the bartender to open a tab - and that it would allow me to order drinks at either bar only to have a $161 dollar hold put on my debit card. There may have been a sign posted - if there was it wasn't one I had seen. I tried to call on Saturday to ask about it to make sure I wasn't charged twice (my actual tab cleared by Saturday) but was on hold for a while, then sent a contact form and haven't heard back (it's Tuesday night as I'm writing this). It was thankfully released on Monday but with some notice I would have been able to use another card.
I went to see a show on Friday night and overall had a great time - every staff interaction was great, the space was what I'd want for venue that size and everything was reasonably priced. I don't normally review things but was thrown off by this hold experience.
Very fun venue - we went for a concert so they didn't have like bowling alley set up but I thought that was a fun thing about the space.
For a concert it was nice bc there is like split level flooring (I guess that's the way to say it?) but essentially the back third or so of the room facing the stage was higher than the front half so we grabbed a spot to stand at the back and didn't have to worry about not being able to see the stage. Plus it was a small enough venue that we weren't crazy far away from the stage choosing that option.
They also had two bars on both sides of the room which was nice bc it was quite crowded and would have been a pain to get over to the other side of the room. They also had the diner connected to it which again wasn't open bc of the concert but I thought it was a fun feature (idk if they had it open before or after the show - didn't check).
Last thing is their security was like VERY vigilant which... Depending on who you are might make you happy or not so happy lol do what you will with the info.
Overall, good spot. I don't live in Jersey so I had to drive about 1.5 hours to get there but if another artist I like has a show there I would be happy to make the trip again.
