As always an amazing experience. Everyone from the front dest to the bus people were very attentive and extremely professional. We love it here!
We made a reservation and were sat at a table right across from bar, we sat side by side facing the bar. Too much traffic back and forth in front of us as well as a group at the bar that was both seated and standing right opposite our seats enjoying themselves but were loud and disrupted our dining experience.....restaurant should make this aware to customers when main a reservation
We love Iron Whale! Our server was Amazing & helpful with dietary needs. The food and drinks were great! We will definitely be back.
Great food and exceptional service. Kiera (I believe) was amazing! So warm and on top of it!
The chef's special was so good...we literally couldn't decide on what to order. We wanted everything! the seating that faces the bar was really fun too!
We had a lovely evening and our server was very good. My ahi tuna tacos were excellent. Everyone else was pleased with their choices as well.
My best friend and I meet yearly for a beach day and this year was no exception. We always choose a restaurant that we both agree on, and then complete our day with dinner. Unfortunately, we are always disappointed with an aspect of our restaurant choice, whether it be the food or the service. I'm happy to say that we FINALLY made a great choice! The Iron Whale had stellar service, delicious food and a charming ambience. Don't miss the tuna-it was exceptional! Cooked perfectly and sashimi grade with coconut rice and a flavorful pineapple salsa. Delicious truffle Parmesan fries, Brussels sprouts and roasted tomato hummus with warm pita. A delicious glass of French rose perfectly complimented the food and our server was charming, with just the right mix of friendly and professional. If I had to choose one thing that didn't overly thrill me, it would be the peanut butter and jelly donut special. It was a bit too much -super thick peanut butter encased in a donut that was dry...and the jelly was awkwardly placed on top. In theory it could have been good, but it was overthought. Regardless, I would definitely return to this restaurant-perhaps next time to sit outside since it was a bit chilly that evening. The location is also stellar-right on the boardwalk with a view of the sea. The Iron Whale offers great value with reasonable price points, quality food and service. Don't miss it!
Extremely disappointed. Lobster roll was flavorless and very sparse. My husband had fish taco's and he said it was slightly better than frozen fish from the freezer!
Wonderful experience at the iron whale. The oysters, the Ahi tuna and our mains were all delicious. The only thing that we didn't love were the cod tacos. They were a bit dry for my husband. Service was fantastic and they also accommodated us with our dog as well as a shady table Wonderful ambience and we would definitely come back and dine with them again.
I had a reservation for two last night, September 30th at 8:00 PM, to celebrate my partner's birthday. We ordered the tomahawk steak for two, medium rare, with French fries instead of the brie gratin potatoes. Unfortunately, the substitution was not honored, and the steak arrived with wrong potatoes instead. What made the experience more disappointing was that our server never returned to check on us after the steak was served. By the time someone came back to the table, we had already finished the steak and asparagus, and it was too late to correct the order. Considering the $140 price for the steak, I expected not only the order to be correct, but also attentive service especially on a special occasion. Because of this oversight and lack of follow-up, we ended up skipping the birthday dessert entirely, which made the evening feel incomplete. I wanted to share this feedback because the evening was meant to be memorable, but instead it left us disappointed.

We were celebrating my daughter's birthday and had a very nice evening. We enjoyed our dinner, the server was friendly and attentive and the ambiance was very nice. My daughter had swordfish and her boyfriend had rigatoni with seafood. Both were cooked to perfection. I had seafood tacos (cod) and my hubby had a burger and thought our meals were great. We were seated at a booth overlooking the boardwalk and ocean. The view was really pretty. There was a large wooden structure (shelf? Raw bar?) outside the window partially blocking the view. We would suggest moving it. Other than that, we'll be back!
Food and drinks were exellent! We enjoyed everything we ordered which included the daily bread, calamari, oyster appetizer, mussel appetizer, shrimp tacos, lobster Mac and cheese, seafood rigatoni, and clams and linguini. The mussel appetizer with the fries was one of the best mussel dishes I've ever had. Affogato was pricey but also delicious. We also ordered the pumpkin crème brûlée - it was good but probably our least favorite item ordered. We will definitely be coming back!
Fantastic food... But the ambience made it extra great. Appetizers were wonderful in our server. Jessi was great.
Excellent food, service and atmosphere. Close to Stone Pony for dinner before shows. One drawback for my brother-in-law - no Budweiser beer.
One of our favorites in Asbury Park - great location on the boardwalk and the food is fantastic.
