Great lunch stop at the beach. Don't try to treat this as authentic Mexican, but it is decent Tex Mex and each burrito is chock full of tasty ingredients. Enjoyed the mushroom burrito and the chips and salsa were delicious. The margaritas were made with fresh lime and not-too-sweet. Seating is through availability, so either get a reservation or risk sitting in the bright sun. Of course, the other reason to go here is for the people watching on the boardwalk.

I had an awful experience today at Pop’s. I sat outdoors for lunch. No server came to the table, so I went to the counter to ask to place my order. I never was served water, cutlery or napkins. We had to ask for them. We never got a check either, and I again went to the register to pay. We ordered tacos and sushi, which were fine. I’ve never been to a restaurant with this lack of service. Although I’m a local, I had never eaten there before.

Came here for lunch on off season. Shitake bbq burrito was 99% rice and very boring. Cost was $19 if you can believe it. Would really appreciate better vegetarian options. Price should reflect ingredients. You would think that a piece of steak costs the restaurant more than a (non-organic) mushroom or two. My wife had Tacos - they were better.

Early morning at the beach we came across this restaurant. We were quickly seated and fortunately there's umbrellas to block the sun. Portions are very generous! Flavor is all there. Chilaquiles were made with blue corn and personally that's my favorite! I loved that they weren't soggy! The jersey boy was full of flavor as well. This is a must visit when at Asbury.

This place use to have some of the best tacos in Asbury but I don't know what happen. As a local, I use to go to this place all the time and was excited to bring people there who have never been. But after my experience in early August 2022, I no longer recommend this place. We walked in at 11:35am to grab some lunch and wanted to sit outside. We stood looking around for a hostess or waitress but there was nobody so finally I went inside and asked if we could sit outside, they told us to sit anywhere out there. Waitress came over with breakfast menus. We asked if we could have lunch menus but we were told they can't serve lunch until 12pm... So since I really wanted some tacos we decide to leave and come back at 12pm. Walk into the patio at 12pm and sat at a table on the patio since last time we were told to sit anywhere. We waited 10 minutes watching waitresses walk in and out and nobody acknowledged us. I went in and asked if we could get menus and I was told that we are not seated on the right side of the patio and if we want to order food we have to sit on the other side. We moved over and the waitress again told me that sitting on the other side is for the bar only. Not sure how I was suppose to know that but got it. We ordered chips and guacamole (because I remembered them having the best guac pre Covid), tacos and a margarita. The guac had no flavor and was not as good as I remember. Tacos came out and were okay but they also use to be so much better. And then I didn't get my margarita until after our entrees were delivered. 4 years ago I would recommend this place. Today I no longer do. There are better options in Asbury and surrounding towns... Mojo in Asbury, Surf Taco (multiple locations), 10th avenue burrito (Belmar) are just a few of the better options than Pops. I'm so disappointed this place took a downward turn.

Nice place to be on the boardwalk. Good menu selections. Service is a little slow and can be improved. I ordered soft shrimp tacos, but the tacos are so soft that it breaks. Chips and salsa is fresh and tasty. Chips are fried fresh and it’s warm to the touch. Only been here once so my review are solely on that experience.

Although the service wasn't the best due to them being short staffed, this place had the best garlic shrimp. I got the garlic shrimp tacos and they were delish! Def get the garlic shrimp in any of their options

We ate here yesterday 8/20, for a mid afternoon lunch. My daughter is in town and she and my wife wanted to go to Asbury Park before the summer ends. My wife picked this place, it's been on my list for breakfast because of some buzz years ago. It was hot and sunny and my daughter wanted to sit inside but there was nothing available for 20-30 minutes. She is very fair of skin but she decided to rough it with an outside table on the boardwalk under an umbrella. The service was good, they were pretty busy. Now I know this place is a little overpriced, but the times we live in added to the jersey shore location make the prices unsurprising. My wife wanted chips and guacamole. The guacamole was traditional but the portion was smaller then expected. The chips were a mix of blue and white corn tortilla and fairly ordinary. We also had the street corn. I've had way better. It was basically a grilled ear of corn slightly crusted with some of the ingredients in a well made street corn. My daughter ordered sweet potato fries, the best dish put on the table. Crispy and tender at the same time served with ketchup and a queso dip. My daughter had for her entree 2 tacos, a fish and chicken that she said were good. My wife had the Sandia salad with mahi, she really liked it. I tried the fish and it was tender and juicy. My garlic shrimp burrito was just ok, the shrimp plentiful but the dish lacked something, perhaps not garlicky enough? I've had way better burritos almost everywhere. I do want to try this place for breakfast someday based on Yelp reviews but I wouldn't come back for lunch.

Absolutely awful. The chips were stale and the guac they give you with it, is in the smallest cup. The margaritas were watered down too. Go to Loteria downtown if you want good Mexican.

Atmosphere and the settings just makes this is a great spot for you just to enjoy a good drink have a couple tacos and have some good company and forget all about your troubles in the world. We had wonderful service by a young lady by the name of Victoria, who was sweet and had a bubbly personality that just made our time enjoyable. The Carne Asada tacos and burritos were fantastic and that curry dipping sauce was phenomenal and I don't even like curry. Definitely will come here again the next time I'm in Asbury Park. Thank you for everything you do

Things have declined significantly since they renovated in 2022. The tacos are sad, just some lettuce and tomato on a store bought tortilla with some unseasoned protein. They're $9 for two tacos (and literally nothing else). Margaritas are poured from a jug and come in a little plastic cup, price wasn't listed but it ended up being a surprising $14 each. Total cost was $50 plus tip for 2 drinks and 4 tacos, none of it good. Also the service was unfriendly but quick, managers were running around micromanaging the staff and getting in the way. This place used to be awesome, so we went despite the awful reviews. Unfortunately, after their renovation everything is awful and overpriced. Avoid at all costs and don't consider any reviews before summer 2022, place is totally different.

pretty much the worst “mexican” food I ever had.ordered the flautas and there was literally a long black hair on it…….did not even touch it. didn’t say anything to the waitress because I didn’t feel like waiting another 15+ mins for a replacement while my friends ate.
