If I could rate this place a zero I would. Horrible food and service and I will never return.
We went as a group and food wasn’t served at the same time. Then the food that we did get was made wrong and cold. My particular burger which was ordered medium was cold in the middle like it was sitting there waiting for a while. So I sent it back and it came back well done, the same meal. They should’ve replaced the order with a freshly made burger but they didn’t. They were just serving food out however they could. No quality. The servers all had an attitude as well. It was bad overall for our special occasion and this place ruined it.
There’s other restaurants nearby that are better. This place is a joke.

10/2/25 Update
I called and left a message for this Jennifer person and I don’t think they exist. No one called me back and I believe this is the company lying to make themselves look good and care. But they don’t by doing this. When I asked for Jennifer, the person on the phone questioned Jennifer. So, this person doesn’t exist.. total BS from this company.

My wife and I dropped by here before a show at the Stone Pony to get a bite to eat. We had to sit at the bar since the place was booked with reservations. No worries at all though, the food was terrific. Highly recommend their burgers. Their oysters were fresh and spectacular. The service was quite good. Only complaint was the food took quite awhile to arrive. If you’re in the area and have adequate time for food and drinks, I highly recommend the Robinson Ale House.

I dined at the Robinson Ale House over the weekend with friends and had a great experience. It was busy but the service/food/cocktails were 10/10. Our server didn't miss a beat! She was attentive and knowledgeable. Will definitely be back before local summer ends!!

I visited The Robinson Ale House last night (formerly McLoone’s, where my husband and I have gone many times over the last 15 years) for my birthday celebration with a reservation at 6:30 PM for a party of eight. Unfortunately, what should have been a special evening turned into one of the worst dining experiences we’ve had in Asbury.

We arrived at 6:15 and were seated in a booth that didn’t quite fit our party, so we had to ask for an extra chair just to sit somewhat comfortably. We placed our orders fairly quickly, but from there everything went downhill. Only ONE appetizer was placed, and that didn’t arrive until 7:38 pm. OVER an hour later. During that entire time, our server checked on us maybe three times, but never once gave us any update or explanation about the timing of our food, while everyone at the table sat there starving.

Meanwhile, we noticed other tables seated 20–30 minutes after us not only receiving their food, but even finishing their meals. When we asked our server about this, instead of apologizing or checking on our order, she asked us “which tables?”... as if we were making it up. We pointed them out in disbelief. She then went to get the manager.

Here’s where it got even more frustrating: the manager walked toward us, only to stop at the table next to us (a couple who had arrived later than we did and had not said anything about the wait?!) and apologized to them, offering them a discount for their wait. We heard this clearly as we all looked at each other. When she finally came to our table, all she did was say “sorry for the wait” no offer of a discount, no acknowledgment of how poorly things were being handled. If anything, she seemed bothered by having to address it at all.

When our food finally came out, it arrived in pairs, staggered over 5 minutes. Soups were cold, and a salad was underwhelming. My meatloaf was burnt and cold, not worth $26. The only decent meals were the short ribs and filet mignon. One meal came so late we canceled it, though it eventually arrived and was taken off the bill.

In the end, they gave us 15% off for the wait and removed one meal, but the bill still came to over $300 for food that was disappointing at best and customer service that was downright insulting. To make matters worse, a 20% gratuity was automatically added listed as $54.44 when 20% of our subtotal should have only been $49.34. That’s almost $5 more than what was owed, and it feels like a scam on top of everything else. Always check your bill here!!!!

Money isn’t the issue here. We’ve dined out countless times, including at this restaurant back in its McLoone’s days, and we’ve never had an experience this bad anywhere. But for a place that markets itself as an upscale family-friendly restaurant, the experience was appalling. If the kitchen can’t handle the volume or the staff can’t provide professional service, then something needs to change. The manager, especially, showed poor judgment, offering compensation to the wrong table while ignoring the actual issue.

We left disappointed, hungry, and angry. We are never going back. This place has lost its way. Even boardwalk food after this letdown was far better than anything we ordered here: hot, fast, and hassle-free. Save your bucks, because all you’re really paying for is the “nice” décor and patio, not a true dining experience, and certainly not one worthy of a special occasion. I truly hope others read this before going, or at the very least, that their experience is far better.

We just had the worst dining experience we’ve ever had here. Waited 15 mins for our server to approach the table, and put in entire order immediately since we had our one year old with us. We then waited over an hour to get our food, and had to have it packed up to go without eating it because we couldn’t console our baby any longer. The restaurant was busy, but there were people who came in over a half hour after us sitting at the tables around us who had finished their food before ours even came (which was two sandwiches and soup). Seems like our server forgot to put our food order in? We weren’t given utensils or napkins, had to flag server down to ask for these, and so did all the tables around us. Our kids meal came with milk, but we had to ask for it after it never came and we were brought an open cup with no lid- she said “sorry we don’t have lids.” I saw a girl leave 5 minutes earlier with a cup with a lid. So disappointed that we wasted our time and money here.

Went there for a birthday celebration. The restaurant did not handle it well.
Felt very chaotic. Meals did not come out together. Some of the one's that did come out first were cold, like they had been sitting a while. 3 meals took over ten minutes longer to come out. One of the meals that came out last was missing the protein.
The total bill was $500 for 12 people, which is reasonable, but when you are dropping that kind of money, the expectations are higher, and they definitely weren't met.
Bathroom facilities were disgusting and embarrassing for a higher scale establishment.
Very disappointed in the overall experience.

We made reservations for a party of 12–14 at 7:30 PM, but from the start things were disappointing. The hostess gave unclear directions and left us waiting in line until I went up to remind them about our reservation.

The billing situation was just as frustrating. We wanted to pay separately, but they could only split the check two ways — and even then, the bills weren’t equal. When we asked to split by half the table, that wasn’t possible either. For a large group, the lack of flexibility was very disappointing.

The food was underwhelming. I had to add salt to my dish because it lacked flavor and texture, and my friends agreed the food was not great. For comparison, the lobster mac and cheese at Palmetto is far better than what we were served here. My sister’s burger arrived cold, even in the center.

Not all dishes came out on time either. My in-law ordered the lobster mac and cheese, but first he was served the wrong one with chicken. Then he was brought a plain mac and cheese, and finally, 10 minutes later, the lobster was dropped off in a separate dish. Completely disorganized.

On top of that, the live music was so loud that we had to yell just to talk to each other. It made the atmosphere unpleasant because we couldn’t hear anyone next to us.

The service tied it all together in the worst way. The waitresses seemed clueless, messed up multiple orders, and when we tried to address issues, one even gave us a nasty look and attitude. Having worked in restaurants myself, I know this is not the way to treat customers.

Great day here to enjoy football with the family by yourself or with the group of the guys the food here is amazing. I smelled it from the time I walked in. I did a tasting here for teeling. And the crowd was very receptive and willing to try my product walked out of there with everyone, enjoying a nice glass or sample of the fighting Irish highball which included Gingerale, apple cider and whiskey.
