We come to this restaurant 3 times each summer and have been doing that for 6/7 years. Never been disappointed until Friday night. Both mine and my wife food really disappointed . The grouper was under cooked and the BLT scampi was nothing like I had before. I always give this restaurant 5 stars because we really like it. Im little sad even to write this.

Our meals at Cafe Loren are always excellent: quality of the food and its preparation, choice of menu, and all of the service staff. Reservations are honored with little or no wait for a table, and the spacing between tables make this a place for special occasions or just a dinner among friends. Although prices are more than a regular family restaurant ( but not for Avalon), the fact that Cafe Loren is a BYOB makes this a location for one ( or two ) of your special wines. Enjoy!

A decade (and counting!) of dinners at Café Loren in Avalon, and it never fails to impress. From the halibut with its incredible sauces to a Caesar salad that truly has no rival, every bite reminds us why this has been a tradition for over 10 years. Nick always makes us feel so well taken care of, and the serene artwork by Monaco Zane sets the perfect backdrop for enjoying a glass of French wine over dinner. Already counting down to our next visit over Memorial Day. The best part? It’s steps away from @Fredsavalonliquors and The Princeton, so the night can roll right into great music after an unforgettable meal.

Simply the best! Service, food, and the environment were all A++! What a wonderful dining experience. The receptionist slowly walked to the table, waited until we sat down and then handed women the menus, and then subsequently the men. Within two minutes without asking, an ice Bucket was brought to the table. There is very little turnover of servers and we were greeted with a smile. Everybody loved their meals. Loren salad , seafood chowder and mussels were all excellent. Several of us had halibut with risotto which was mouth watering. The fish special for the day was a hit. Desserts were outstanding. I would like to see them or add to their tray choices in the future, it is our favorite restaurant at the Jersey shore, and I cannot even think of a constructive comment to make. I guess it would be nice when they announce all of these specials if they would give the price to each of them without us having to ask, especially when a few of them were more expensive than other items.
Fantastic restaurant. Impeccable service. Great BYOB opportunity for wine lovers. One of the few restaurants were the desserts match the quality of the food. One strong critique/recommendation… I love a good sear/crust on my proteins and on food in general, however the chef needs to look at the flavor the grill is imparting. For us the octopus and filet both had a really strong bitter burnt flavor. I’ve read other reviews that echo this same issue. But a wonderful dinner overall.

The grilled octopus appetizer is always delicious. My husband had a pasta dish with bacon, shrimp, lobster in a scampi sauce and I had an Australian Sea Bass with a mango sauce over basmati rice. Both entrees were outstanding. Dessert was a rosemary infused panne cotta with raspberries - also outstanding. Our server, Michael was very attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. Overall, an outstanding experience. We have dined at Cafe Loren many times and the experience is consistently outstanding. Prices are fairly reasonable for the quality of the food. This is a real gem at the Jersey Shore!
