One of the best dining experiences our family has had. Food was outstanding and service was impeccable. Shockingly, it was our first time dining at The Diving Horse, this after 20 years of coming to Avalon. It will now be our new annual tradition!!!
We visit the Diving Horse yearly and always have a wonderful dining experience. They never disappoint.
Food was good- two strips of tuna which were excellent but rice under cooked for $52 Service was excellent but food was ok- space is so loud it's hard to converse
Overall a good time! Shirt ribs were super salty and the cheesy greens were as well! Server did take ribs off the check.
Overall excellent experience between the outstanding food & service! Everything we had was delicious & the service was amazing, they were so kind & accepting of an 11 month old baby. Can be slightly loud, but we've been several times and greatly enjoyed each dinner!
Everything was delicious! Be sure to ask for some bread. We also enjoyed the Nashville hot calamari, some oysters, the homemade KitKat, and scallops/halibut. The waitress was lovely. Acoustics are a bit wacky but everything else is perfect.
Food is amazing ! Service was excellent ! We love going to the diving horse when we go to Avalon . We will be back .
Been going here for +/- 13 years. Oysters were wonderful. Arrancini appetizer was lukewarm, they forgot one of the entrees (and when it did come it was very salty), and the tuna entree was cold (sent it back, was then overcooked). Service was pleasant but slow. To their credit, they comped both the tuna and pasta entrees and offered free dessert. Maybe it was just an off night but it was disappointing based on past experience and the prices being charged.
Food was great but the service was so prompt that I felt rushed. If we hadn't ordered coffee, we would have been in & out in 45 minutes for dinner with starters & mains. The food came out very quickly after we ordered and the mains came out very quickly after the starters plates were cleared. I would have preferred a bit more time between courses to enjoy our evening out and catch a breath between the time I finished the starter and was served my main. Noise levels ebbed & flowed with the crowd but was pretty loud when the restaurant was full.
No written sign out front so look for the rusted sign of a horse. It's on the corner next to the hardware store.
Restaurantji Recommends
Our waiter, Travis, truly enhanced our dining experience, by providing valued descriptions of the menu items and how the various ingredients interacted. Looking forward to dining there again.
Nice clean dining room and our server was polite and knowledgeable about the menu the short ribs were excellent and a good portion. The halibut was good but nothing special. Good vibe in dining room
First time dining at this restaurant. Extremely impressed immediately. Was greeted by a very gregarious young man named Travis. His enthusiasm was contagious! He made us feel so welcomed immediately! Made several recommendations and gave us adequate time to sip our wine and peruse the menu. We made our appetizer selections and entree choices! The food was exquisite. The room is quite compact and tables are close together. The noise level is high but didn't interfere with conversation! Looking forward to returning to The Diving Horse on our next trip to Stone Harbor! This place is a keeper!!
Ryan took care of us and he was amazing! Attentive, made great recommendations, and the food was delicious. It is such a treat to eat there!
Nothing bad on the menu. Love this place for many reasons. But I'd go w chicken and halibut. Not a steakhouse. Also, KitKat desert is worthwhile and unique.
