I loved my first visit to the Hills of Herat. I dined inside of this beautiful eatery on the nineteenth of August and that was the day of Afghanistan's one hundred and sixth anniversary of Independence from Great Britain despite Afghistan never having been colonized by any country in its history. Most favorably, I enjoyed the lamb shank I ate and the green tea with saffron. Lastly, the manti dumplings were delicious.

Hands down one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a very long time! Wonderful Mediterranean cuisine, I ordered the Lamb Chops as a dinner and then the food just kept on coming…
First the lentil soup, fresh bread and a caddy with 2 creamy yogurt sauces and a nice red spicy Harissa sauce. Then followed by the Shepards salad. You know this is a from scratch kitchen because it’s so crisp and colorful. Then a dumpling appetizer stuffed with meat and spices with a crunchy topping and drizzle of yogurt sauce. I had a refreshing Lime and mint drink like a mojito but without the liquor. The Lamb Chops were cooked to perfection, tender and perfectly seasoned. Three types of rice and a lovely mix of carrots with raisins. Portions are so generous, enough food for three days! I am visiting from Chicago so you know that I come from a city with fabulous restaurants but I would move here just so I could dine at Hills of Herat every single day! Make this your next dining destination!
Extra note, the service was so smooth, never feeling rushed and the owners even checked in on guests to make sure all were enjoying their time. And topped the meal off with a Chai tea ☕️

Went to this place for dinner on a Sunday. The place got a decent atmosphere and vibe. I ordered the lamb chops, lamb shank, veal curry. The food was serve at a good temperature. However, the lamb shank felt bit under seasoned and lamb chops taste was good but meat was little chewy. The service felt quite satisfactory.

Hill of Herat is an absolute gem. The food is bursting with flavor and feels like it’s made with so much love — every dish I tried was unforgettable.

But what makes this place truly special is the people. Wali, Hala, and Saboor are leading an amazing team, and it really shows. I even got to meet Amy, Ahmed, and Dasiy, who bring so much light and warmth to the restaurant. They made the whole experience feel more like being welcomed into a home than just going out to eat.

If you’re looking for incredible food and an even better atmosphere, Hill of Herat is the place to go.

Food and service was beyond expectations. My friends always went here for special events and I never got a chance to go here but when I finally did I was not disappointed. We came really late maybe 30 minutes before closing time but they still took care of us and stayed as long as we did. All the food came out fresh and delicious. We were a party of 18 people

Came with my husband and loved it. The atmosphere was lovely and the customer service was amazing. The owner was so sweet and the way he communicated with us was so respectful…. Loved every bit of it and the food was delicious and cooked to perfection ♥️
