The chicken was dry, the potatoes were cold, and the $60 filet was just okay… and didn’t even come with sides.
It feels like Charlie’s is leaning on the view and “fine dining” reputation, but the food and service just don’t back up the prices. There are much better places to spend your money.

Charlie’s is our favorite restaurant at the Jersey shore. We go every year for the wonderful food and atmosphere. This year I tried the steak salad instead of my usual go-to grilled tuna sandwich and the steak was a bit chewy—I would not order that again. The steak eggs rolls were fantastic. Jordan was a wonderful server as always but even she had her hands full with an obnoxious group at a table in the bar area next to us that were either drunk or just typically loud and rude. Patrons actually had to ask the table to be quiet and stop dropping f-bombs in every loud sentence they shared with the entire restaurant at about 3 pm on July 23. Every other patron got to hear their idea of life, liberty, and the pursuit of unhappiness. Where was a manger to control the situation? There are numerous staff walking around with iPads to manage the table logistics but no one managed the patrons except the other patrons. When one woman told them to “shush” , the unruly customers told her to shut up. The experience ruined my wife’s birthday.

Had drinks with some friends last night visiting out of state. Love this place it never fails, but we were at the bar last night and single-handedly probably had the best espresso martini in the shore. Young woman who was helping us made incredible drinks and kept up with all of our orders while she was cranking drinks out don’t quote me, but I believe her name is Clara (not 100% sure). The young man who was either bartending or barback was nice enough to help us find seats at the bar. Thanks for the great service!

Recently celebrate a birthday here last week and had a great experience! We requested an outdoor table and they took us downstairs and placed us dockside. It was so peaceful and we were able to catch a beautiful sunset. Our server was so sweet and attentive, and our meal was absolutely delicious, and the drinks were on point. Overall a great night and we will be back!

we had a group of seven today and Jordan was our server and she was just terrific. We had halibut flounder franchise shrimp, tacos, scallops, and everyone loved their meal. We had some great drinks sangria Hugo spritzer’s Pear martini. Or dessert we had the blueberry sorbet, the coffee, toffee ice cream, and a few of us shared the donuts and we had the Charlie’s cappuccino, which was amazing

Charlie’s absolutely exceeded expectations. The espresso martinis were some of the best I’ve had, smooth, balanced, and actually tasted like real espresso instead of being overly sweet. The macchiato cocktail was incredible too, creative, rich, and perfect for anyone who likes coffee based drinks.
For food, the New York strip was cooked perfectly with great flavor and a really quality cut of meat. The crab dip was another standout, hot, creamy, loaded with crab, and impossible to stop eating. You can tell a lot of care goes into both the food and cocktails here.
Great atmosphere, great service, and definitely a place worth coming back to.
