I run The Bayonne Chess Society & Club. We have events all over Bayonne, different venues. I approached the owner, Ed, and he immediately said, "Yes" He's a chess lover, and had been waiting forever for chess to come to Bayonne. We have almost 300 adult members, no idea how many children. We also have a Boardgame Division. We did this in THREE MONTHS.We have two locations on members meet at on Fridays nights. Chubby's for a more mature atmosphere. People can go grab a beer, eat, and chill, while playing chess. If there are children, members meet at Joe's Pizza...4 blocks away. So, far I've had the cheesesteak sandwich and spicy fries. It was delicious. We meet at BOTH locations at 7 pm. No experience necessary. We have all levels of players young and old.We also meet at Cafe 26 on Saturday afternoons. We have a boardgame Event night on Thursday nights, at Bayown's Vendor Mart from 6 pm to 10 pm. Members bring whatever game they're looking to play. The venue has a few of their own. It's crazy fun. We've also had events at Houlihans. We have other venues in the pipeline, as we continue to grow, as we're now getting members from other towns, like Hoboken, Jersey City, Hoboken, Oldbridge, and Paramus.FINALLY, we have Free group chess lessons on Sundays at Chubby's. We're there from 2 pm until 5 pm. It's RSVP only, as space is limited. As we get more students we may go to another day for chess.But, all in all, Chubby's is a chill place to go, eat, chill, socialize, and PLAY CHESS !! They also have a video game night !!! How did I not know this ???For those interested in getting involved in a group that's growing like crazy, were on Facebook. Look us up. The Bayonne Chess Society & Club.Remember, the chess is free. The venue isn't. Please patronize whatever venue hosts us.

Same menu as refinery. Bar staples are needed but they need to kick it up a notch. I asked for hot sauce twice and they have pointed to an old, crusty, empty bottle of sriracha. No thanks. I'll have to bring my own hot sauce I guess. Bland bar food in desperate need of a revamped menu! Karaoke, Latin night, trivia all good additions but when advertising Latin night it would be great if it was actually authentic Latin music not the watered down Americanized fusion. They have improved minimizing the drunk, loud, obnoxious types that wake up the entire neighborhood at closing. More needs to be done though! A permanent ban on those belligerent types. Not only kick them out of the bar but help facilitate having them removed from the entire area and stop waking up the entire neighborhood!!!

I kid you not, if you want the absolute best burger and fries you have ever had, you NEED to give this place a try. I have never had such a tasty, perfectly seasoned, juicy burger in my life. Every single bite was bliss. I cannot speak for the rest of their food, but I'm sure it's somewhat of the same caliber. The burger (and fries) were just that good.

Back again at my favorite spot in Bayonne!! Decided to go for a mid day lunch and came out with so much more. The lovely bartender Josh made me a delicious cherry vanilla cocktail that hit the spot. Not pictured is the pretzels that I usually get because they were so good I forgot to take a picture this time lol. I love the new decor and what they've done with the place. Especially the plants lol. 10/10 see y'all next time ??
