The Refinery is an upgrade from the previous bar that stood in it's place. They added new lights, T.V.'s and a dining area that were all missing from the 'Pair of Jacks' dive bar before it. The food is actually pretty good.

Enjoyed the Chiefs/Chargers game here and had an AWESOME EXPERIENCE! I got the bartender to make me a Manhattan and it turned ot really good. Good vibes!!!

Atmosphere was great… but the bartender was blasted drunk behind the bar.. put in our for food order as wrong, and not “to go” as requested…and she was letting random dudes were back behind the bar running the music to the point where I think the owner yelled at her to stop letting guys behind the bar. She also locked herself out of the iPad .. so we couldn’t pay and ended up having to eat there.Also.. asked for the burgers to be cooked medium… let’s just say those baddies was CRISPY.Uhhh atmosphere was nice though.

I decided to meet a friend over at the refinery. I had a hefty week at work and walked in. Saw the bartender was also the waitress - there were 3 woman at the bar and the bartender was in the middle talking with them. She did not look up or acknowledged I was there . I finally came closer and raised my voice asking if it were ok for me to sit. She shook her head yes. 5 mins later she brought a menu and said I had to give her minute. She proceeded to serve every person in the room. Including 3 guys that came in after me. They all had their drinks . She did not come over to me to ask me what I wanted. When she finally came to my table, after I waived her over. I told her how I didn’t think it was very nice of her to serve everyone else and ignore me. She shrug her shoulders and took my order. When my drink and food arrive. She didn’t ask me if I needed anything just walked away. I finally got up, interrupted her while she was busy talking to the group of women, to ask her for sauce and a knife. I quietly ate my food and drink and got up to get the bill. It pained me to do it because I have never NOT tip 20% in 30 years . I put a big zero on her Tip Receipt . For what should have been a nice relaxing Friday and be served in my neighborhood, I get this instead . It’s why people go downtown Jersey City or Hoboken to eat. I can’t even have a nice relaxing time in my old neighborhood with out being judged and treated terribly . Needless to say, I am a working professional and part of my habits are to spend sometime. Having a good meal and a few drinks. This place will never a choice for me .
