Love this restaurant and it's on our list every year. It's a bit loud which I find as the only downside. When you have family members that can't hear well to start it makes it hard to hear everyone's conversations without talking loud yourself.
Great service and always accommodating! The staff aways gives us a warm welcome and the best service!
Amazing meal - best so far on the island! Don't skip the clams pepperoncini. It's very loud, so grab a seat outside if that's a problem for your party.
Always a good time. Food and drinks were on point. The only complaint I have is the lighting. A little too dark for my taste.
Everything was perfect from the service to the cocktails and food. This is simply the best restaurant in Beach Haven.
Always love Black Whale. Fried scallops, house salad....the best! Our server Kim was excellent. House cab always good too.
Great food and service, always a great experience. Can't beat their homemade salad dressings and fresh oysters.
The food was very good! It was very noisy. Steak was delicious, although pricey. Probably not worth 57$.
We have been going to the Black Whale for years, this is our last visit. The food has continued to go down hill. We started with clams on the half shell, which were dirty, and probably the worst we ever had. The shrimp cocktail was served not on ice but lettuce, so they were room temperature, and were not cleaned. I like shrimp cold and on ice. The tuna appetizer was 6 thin sliced tiny pieces. The scallop entree was good, nothing special. The weakest of the groups restaurants. Skip it and go to Mud City, or even better head to Parker's Garage.
Food was excellent and service was good. Unique and delicious cocktails. Love the family style salad and the homemade dressings were delicious, especially used together. We were a party of 6 and were seated upstairs, which was much quieter than the first floor. The upper level would benefit from some background music, just to add some ambiance. Shrimp & Scallop Santa Cruz pasta was a big winner, and our group also enjoyed the Mahi, Tuna, Salmon, Tilefish, and Swordfish (fried?!).

I go to the Black Whale every year for my birthday. ( as well as other times). I always order the lobster bake and it is always delicious. Love the dressing for the salad. They should bottle it for purchase!!! This year was no different except for 2 things that I want to mention. 1) I ordered a cocktail. The ice was overflowing the top of the glass. I had to remove some ice to even take a sip! 2)The person I was with must have mentioned it was my birthday. The waitress brought over a piece of orange from the bar with a candle...lame for a restaurant of this caliber.
Always a great meal! Had the Tilefish which was outstanding. Our server Torr was terrific as always!
Always excellent. House salad with homemade garlic ranch and balsamic dressings are the best. I actually come here because of the dressings. Laura had sautéed soft shells which were great. I had the fried seafood combo. Very, very good. Really good cole slaw. Great service as well. Suggestion: Bottle the salad dressing for sale. I'll be your best customer.
Food was delicious . Jen, our server, was excellent! One of our favorite restaurants on LBI.
Waitress took a very long time to take our order. Personailty to be honest very strange My whole party was not thrilled with the server
