Beware when booking this hotel. I had to cancel my room due to a work obligation and I gave over 30 days notice. They kept over $100 of my money for a service they never provided me and refused to refund it. I will never book at this hotel again.
Food was just OK. The food temperature was luke warm at best. It should have been a lot warmer. The service was fabulous. Our waiter was superb.

Prime rib was excellent. Service outstanding. Decor a bit dated, but fine. Cost higher end, but relatively reasonable (2-prime rib; 2- apps; 2 cocktails = $152 inc tax/tip).

I wanted to love this place but it just came up short. And I think there are a lot of restaurants to explore in LBI. We were a party of 8 and tried many different items. I had the Jersey Shore Spaghetti and Crab balls, it came with 10 little neck clams along with mini crab cake balls and they were both just ok. The pasta was unseasoned. I was so excited to try this dish and it had the potential but just wasn’t it, was disappointing. We had the full crab cake and it was also just ok, too much breading in my opinion. I’m being genuine when I say we had the best crab cake at Terrace Tavern (a bar) and we were on a crab cake quest to see if there was a better one..unfortunately it wasn’t here. Also had the snow crab legs and they were kinda dry.
For apps we had the pork belly as well as Philly cheese steak apps and they were good.
To drink we had the Key Lime martini and it was good as was the coconut martini and the Spicy pineapple Margarita was really good.
So I should’ve mentioned first, we had a reservation and our hostess didn’t seat us bc she had said our table was still occupied and didn’t know how long the current party would be seated but there were two empty tables right next to it and after waiting 20 min past our reservation we just asked that they push those two empty tables together and that’s what they finally did.
Side note the group that had “our table” ended up being there as long as we were and pretty sure they had just sat down before we arrived. If we waited for them to leave we never would’ve ate. Other than that snafu the Servers were wonderful and someone at our table actually had a shellfish allergy and they took that extremely serious. But that’s the best I can say about the place so not sure I’d recommend or return. The food needs to be better, it’s not horrible but it’s just needs to be better than “ok”.
The outside beach bar looked fun though and the drinks were good.
Dietary restrictions: One of our diners had a shellfish allergy and they were very mindful and extremely cautious so that was appreciated.

The martini bar inside was nice. Good food. Singer was performing karaoke style on Friday night. The group enjoyed the Korean bbq pork belly, Mediterranean salmon, and the stuffed salmon. Sushi options can work for vegetarian/vegan choice

The bar service down by the pool was absolutely horrible today (8/6/24). My family has been coming to LBI for 15 years (1 year off for covid) and the Sea Shell has always been a destination for good drinks and food by the pool with live music. Today we went there for the first time this week excited as usual, but there was an issue with the ID reader that resulted in our kids (ages 22 and 24) having to wait for the police because the bartender accused them of using fake IDs. Apparently there is a bias against CT IDs that immediately flags the system at the Sea Shell. This has been the only place in LBI that has had an issue with their IDs this week. I understand there is a protocol they need to follow for liability,, but we were basically trapped there for 30 minutes until the police arrived to get their IDs back. The bartender didn’t seem to care and when my kids went out front to meet the police to expedite the process, he commented “when they leave like that it confirms their IDs are fake”. The police obviously confirmed their ages and cleared them. The bartender didn’t apologize for the inconvenience nor did he even offer the rest of us anything to drink while we waited. He seemed to not want any of us there. The experience was so distasteful that we will never go to the Sea Shell ever again. We may not be regulars but we do ring up a nice tab every time we are there. I am truly saddened by the way this was handled. They need to get their system straight, and train their staff better on customer service.
We used the Sea Shell for our wedding venue and can’t say enough nice things about it. For starters our planners were amazing, Brittany and Jaimee were always available to answer any questions we had. They set everything up just the way we wanted. The food during cocktail hour was to die for and all of our guests raved about it. The weather wasn’t in our favor in the morning and at first we were going to do the ceremony under the tiki hut but were able to change to the sand an hour before. Dinner was also amazing and everything was delicious. The Shell made a dream come true and we can’t thank them enough.
This review is for the Palm Tree Restaurant at The Sea Shell Resort & Beach Club. If you have low expectations, this is the place to go. The table we received ,through reservations, was right by the entrance with people and servers going past us constantly. The entire place was mostly empty. Since we were in the first dinner service, we requested another table. We were told the only other table we could have was in the far corner, despite many in between. So, we took that table. The chairs are very small and hard metal, very uncomfortable. The hostess was dressed in rubber flip flops, a tank top and a a skort type swim skirt that barely covered her privates. I realize it's a beach resort, but still very improper. We ordered cocktails. My husband asked for a Bud Light Beer , which was featured on the menu, but we were told they were all sent back so he had a Coor's Light. I ordered a strawberry daiquiri that was served in a whiskey glass. No daiquiri glass , no garnish, nothing. This is a beach side resort? The rolls were obviously frozen and barely cooked, still white, hard in the center and served with a greasy herb filled substance like crisco not butter. We ordered dinner. My husband ordered grilled swordfish which was featured with two sides, veggies and mashed potatoes. The waiter told him the menu was wrong. He said it was a very bad menu and no sides come with the swordfish. So my husband ordered a salad and baked potato separately. He told us we would not be charged for the salad. The inside restaurant and online menus were different. When according to their online menu, the salad came with the swordfish. We aren't even sure it was swordfish. it didn't look like any swordfish we have ever had. It looked like a small ,flat, frozen patty with a pile of cold corn chutney on the top. Hardly an entree. I ordered a surf and turf combo served in a martini glass with yukon mashed potatoes. This was not featured on the online menu, just the inside menu. I asked how they managed to fit a 6 oz sliced filet and a whole cut up maine lobster in a martini glass, he said it was an oversized glass. I also asked that the potatoes not be garlic since their was no indication of that on the menu. I received a small margarita glass filled with mostly mashed potatoes, that were in fact garlic, which I did not want, a cubed not sliced filet that was not cooked medium, but rather well done, more like stew meat. There were a few small pieces of some cut up lobster and some claw meat sticking out of the top. All of this was doused in brown gravy, not a demi glace. Really horrible! The waiter, Frank, was fine. This is no reflection on him and we tipped him properly. He just works there and is not responsible for their incorrect menus and substandard food service. Please save yourself the disappointment of spending $150 on that mess. Maybe the outside tiki bar is better. The only good thing I can say is that the waiter was fine and the place seemed reasonably clean. If there was an option for a zero star rating, it would be zero.
Bacon and pineapple wrapped scallops were great! The Mexican street corn was fire!! Could have used a little more well done on the wings, but I forgot to ask when ordering, the mango bbq on them was good though. Also my uncle fell off his chair in the sand here last year, so that was a big bonus for us because it was funny as hell!! Hahaha. Great job!!

Sat quickly but we’re ignored for 17 minutes, drink was super sugary but fine, waiter had to come back twice but still got our order wrong, over 30 mins to get 1 wrong dish & 1 “surf n turf” that was ground up meat mixed with lobster served in a novelty martini glass, with a brown sauce over it that looked like something I would feed my dog. Manager was unbelievably rude when I immediately told the waiter I don’t want to eat or pay for a $45 dish that looks like dog food. Literally shoved the menu in my face & told me I was rude for complaining. Been going to the shell for 20 years but the foods gone incredibly down hill as a restaurant, only go here for lunch. 0 stars for how incredibly rude their manager Younes is. Waiter was sweet.
they really helped me out w my room. I originally would've had to switch rooms on Sunday..but they went out of their way and found me a room that I can stay in for the whole visit. Greatly appreciated!
Always a great atmosphere and great food and music. The new decor is beautiful!
The Shell has a special place in my heart with so many great memories, wonderful food, drinks, service and atmosphere. Put the Sea Shell on your list of places to go and enjoy!
Nice looking place with a good menu. Was planning to order the surf and turf. We were quickly seated on the beach then completely ignored for 27 minutes. After we noticed the tables seated after us were being served, we let the hostess know nobody had come to help us yet. Waited another 5 minutes and watched another table that came after us have their order taken. Got up and left after 32 minutes of nothing. Will not be coming back
