This place was sadly a let down. I feel like everyone here is just worn out and tired of the industry. Totally valid, but its effecting their business.
Right when my friend and I entered, no one else was there except the restaurant staff. No one greeted us, the waitress just walked over to a table to have us sit. It was almost like we were a nuisance for coming in at 5:30ish for an early dinner. I just had veggie sushi, and it was okay. This is not sarcastic; The man preparing the food definitely makes beautiful plate art! I definitely loved that aspect of the meal.
It's just the windows were dirty, the table cloths were dirty, the paper they put over the table cloths was dirty. There are light fixtures that weren't working, the back right corner is a chaotic mess... Just made it hard to think the food was prepared in a clean space.
Some simple fixes, some simple cleaning, and some simple revamps, this place would be adorable. I wish you the best of luck!

so when you first walk in you think it’s just a small hometown sushi place. the sushi was okay but then we got our food ad it was AWFUL! then when we complained about it she said “you ordered it though?” like okay but it’s gross i’m not eating it.as this is happening she squished a roach crawling on the wall above my friends head … however we did get two rolls on the house and the service was nice

Paper thin cuts of sushi you could see thru ! Horrible dry rice wrapped rolls Very cheap and back tables of restaurant looked like hoarders there with mess next to sushi station. Never go there again Sushi at ShopRite is ten times better than this place .

15+ years of coming here. The BEST sushi around. Tiffany and Sam are the best, most professional, and nicest people you’ve ever met. Take out or dining in, they can’t miss. Highly recommend - 10 stars - Order the “Frank Salad” off the secret menu 😉

My family visit Kotta Sushi at least once every week or two. They have been around for over 20 years and the food and service has been unwaveringly consistent. If you are looking for quiet place to eat, this is it. Great food, friendly, quick service.
Quiet spot in Belmar. My girlfriend and I go here every few weeks and we love it. I feel like the sushi is good and it's not overpriced. We usually order tuna rolls, eel rolls and try one of the specials.

Very overpriced for portion size. Sashimi dinner had smallest pieces of fish I have ever had at comparable price. Plus, fish was average freshness at best. The wasabi was bland and eerily mild.A la carte snapper sashimi for $9 was minuscule.And, my wife was vomiting 2 hours after finishing her meal of Seafood Garden and Seaweed salad…..not sure which part of meal did it, but no other explanation for acute episode of vomiting and bloating after feeling great prior to meal.Will never go near this place again and my wife will avoid this cuisine in general for a long time.

Prices didn’t match prices listed on google. Price difference is 33% and more . Seems like an issue they’ve had for over a year based on reviews that still hasn’t been fixed. Sushi is not fresh tasting either. I tried but won’t try again.

This must disappointing. Because it was very cute. I thought it was an adorable place. I got two very simple sushi rolls. Shrimp tempura. And a tuna avocado. This was the blandest sushi I’d ever had. Absolutely no flavor. The staff was friendly. But the food was nearly unedible. Even the sauce on the shrimp tempura just didn’t have any flavor. And I really wanted to like this place.

I called at 10 to place an order for pick up as online states the place closes at 10. The lady who answered the phone was rude and said “we’re closed” then muted herself and after hung up. They proceeded to not answer the phone and when I called from a different number, I asked if they closed at 10 or 10:30 because of the online hours and she yelled at phone “we’re closed” and hung up the phone. Was going to be my first time trying this restaurant, will not be ordering from here any longer and lady answering the phone needs to learn to be nicer. Also update your online hours!!
