Washington House Restaurant

I have been coming to this establishment since 1978 way back when it was “The Store”. It's even better now! Last night was a little rough as there was a very loud family party. The mgt either should have placed them in a private room or controlled the loudness. Our adjacent neighbors also commented about how loud they were. In fact, so did our waitress. It made for a very unpleasant experience. Would we go back? 100% yes. Great restaurant, food, ambience and wait staff.

I really want to love this place as a local. Also, I never leave reviews but it's been pretty sad here. My last visit I ordered a well done burger and it was super rare. My medium loving husband wouldn't even touch it. I sent it back (not at all my vibe but it was really that bad) and I was comped a drink but by the time my burger was ready my husband and daughter were done. Went back again tonight and ordered a steak and it was fine but I asked for a ala carte bernaise sauce. When pointing out it didn't come I guess they removed it from the bill and never brought it. Kinda felt like they were happy to sell the expensive steak and didn't care about the cheaper ala carte option. For the prices this is so not worth it.

We left feeling that the evening was perfunctory. We booked through Open Table, which includes a tab for "special occasion." I included "anniversary." Upon arrival, no mention of the anniversary. We were seated promptly, were offered water and the waitress introduced herself and took our drink order. We weren't asked if we wanted additional drinks or wine, and the appetizer plates were not cleared before our entrees arrived. We were asked about dessert and coffee. I declined, but my husband requested coffee. No offer for additional coffee, then the check arrived. That was it...one and done. But I did inquire upon departure - did you have the anniversary information (yes) and what do you do, if you have special occasion information (we provide glasses of Prosecco). That didn't happen. Overall, food was fine ($40 for scallops - yes, I know everything is more expensive), but start to finish, they had us out in an hour and five minutes.

We love the Washington House but this visit was not so good. The service and food was terrible. All the food came out too quickly. Soup and salad came out together instead of staggered and the entrees were delivered before we finished our salads and none of the plates were cleared. One server covering 11 tables on a Saturday night is poor service and no one from management was helping out. No one came to refill water or take drink orders, didn't replenish the utensils and didn't bother to check on the patrons. The soup and salad special was good but to charge an extra $4 to split the salad was ridiculous. The fish and chips was awful. Not a lot of fish, just heavy greasy batter. The Scottish Salmon was dry and bland. Very disappointing. It took a long time to get the check and other people sat waiting as well. Also, didn't like have the server taking the orders on the iPad. Made it feel impersonal and we didn't get a check but the bill showed up on the credit card device so we had to review while the server was holding the machine and had to put the tip amount in front of them. Overall not the great experience that we usually have and will have to reconsider coming back.

We are regular customers at Washington House. Unfortunately, our entrée (Porkchop Milanese) was a bit overcooked. However, we usually enjoy our drinks, apps, meals and desserts here.

The service was on the point. The ambience was great. They could do a little better on the food; not to say it was not good but I just hoped for a bit more.

Really nice place, we were surprised by the tent area in the back, but it was pretty warm and comfortable, and had a really ambiance. The service was great and everyone was very attentive. They had a deal for 1 dollar oysters when we were there, and the rest of the food was pretty good too. Overall a cute place and I'm glad we gave it a try!

I had my birthday dinner at the Washington House after hearing great things about the restaurant. We were seated inside where the atmosphere was cozy and comfortable. We ordered cocktails which were presented beautifully but very mediocre. Three of us ordered the filet tips with risotto. The meat was delicious but the meal was ruined by the undercooked risotto. All three of us had the same experience. We ordered apple cobbler and my brother in law ordered a cappuccino. The cobbler was delicious but the cappuccino was never served. Additionally, we had noted that it was my birthday on the reservation, no acknowledgment of that by anyone. For the price, definitely disappointing.

Excellent all around. Service, food, atmosphere and presentation. Highly recommend if you want an enjoyable night out with friends or on a date...!!!

The food at the Washington House was excellent. However, I was a little surprised they did not provide bread for the table. Based on their food prices, I should not have to pay for bread!

Food was great, atmosphere was great, staff were kind.
However, we saw our waitress maybe 3 times total from the time we walked in to the time we left. We had to hunt someone down to just get a water refill for the table. I would understand if it was a busy night, but we were one of only maybe 3 tables in the section we were in.
Then there’s the cleanliness. There was visible dust floating in my water glass, and all of the silverware was visibly dirty. I also witnessed a staff member setting a table drop a hand full of silverware on the floor, pick it up, BLOW ON THEM, and set it on the table for the next guests to use.

Food was great and tasted amazing!
Unfortunately the service was lacking, and we had to wait quite a while between visits from our server. We had asked multiple times for the check among other things, and continued waiting without anything.

Went with a few girlfriends. The vibe is beyond beautiful. I ordered the scallops and thought they were amazing. Definitely worth a visit!
