Not only is Big Bill's the perfect local neighborhood spot for a great lunch and good company, Chef Ricky also does catering for large and small events! This weekend he catered a special outdoor bench dedication gathering for us, and despite the sweltering heat, he was a rock star, and his food was delicious! I highly recommend everything about Big Bill's Cafe and Chef Ricky's cuisine.Thank youAlice Forsyth ❤
Great cup of coffee!! The owners are friendly and pleasant. I will certainly return!! Highly recommended!! (Parking available in the back)
This place was super clean. Well designed. And my breakfast sandwich was constructed with thoughtfulness and love. Made fresh to order. Delicious.
Trained in New York City’s finest culinary schools, Chef Ricky Davis pays homage to his Grandfather and Southern Hospitality with Big Bill’s Corner Cafe!Stopped in for an OatMilk Latte (They brew Brooklyn Roasting Company) which was perfect and strong!Space is nicely renovated (this location) is a Historical Building which many locals know as Art’s Hilltop market. You will see nods to this in the tin ceiling, etc. Will be back for lunch as they have an amazing fried chicken sandwich!!
Great local business. Fresh, tailored-down short menu, usually daily I believe, with breakfast and lunch choices. Very friendly servers and owners, and just so happen to be our lucky lottery spot. We won $200 our first visit, which brought us back for a $300 second visit, that literally led us to a $700 third visit. We are not avid lottery players any longer, and we did well! So I would head over there for a scratch off or your Lucky numbers for sure. Support your local business and a friendly place to pick things up
What a lucky find! I was driving around, looking for someplace to eat, and saw Big Bill's on a corner. Had not seen or heard of it before. Lots of parking available, so I decided to walk in and check them out. They were not busy. All I saw at first was a bar with stools (where you could eat). I asked the owner if there was other seating and he indicated further down, towards the end of the counter. There were several small tables (2-tops) and I sat at one.The menu is pretty short. I am not a big meat eater, but saw there was a tuna sandwich with a side of fries. I asked the owner what was in the tuna and he went back to ask the chef. He came out and said, "Pickles and Celery seed". I asked if there was mayo combined with it and he said yes. There were 3 types of bread on offer, white, whole wheat and rye. I don't love white bread, and probably would have chosen the whole wheat, but he said, "The rye is really good," so I decided to chance it. I had my tuna salad on rye with cheddar cheese. The sandwich and fries took a little time to come out and when I saw the fries I knew why. They were freshly sliced potatoes that had just been deep fried. They had not been fried previously and refried to be hot. They were piping hot and golden brown. I asked the waitress to bring catsup and a small bowl or plate to squirt the catsup onto because there was no room on the plate. The rye bread was quite a light color - I thought it would be darker, and it was obviously home baked. I took a bite and was extremely surprised at how good the tuna and the bread was. I'd thought the tuna would be bland, but it was 100% albacore and, although I couldn't see the pickles or celery seed, there was a hint of sweetness (sweet pickles) and a slight herbal taste. Subtle but tasty. The rye bread was light and had a hint of flavor that went perfectly with the tuna salad. I was impressed.Asked the owner if they made the bread and he said no, they bought it from a bakery. I told him it was excellent. The fries were good and held their heat throughout the meal. So often when you order fries they cool off within minutes and are soggy and limp. Not these! Being fried after the order was put in and not refried to heat them made the potatoes hot all the way through and they held the heat beautifully. They weren't quite as tasty as they looked, though. Good but not great. I've read there is a double frying method that makes fries crispier and wonder if that would boost the flavor? Or a bit of salt on the potatoes before frying? I think a small adjustment would take the fries from good to great, since they are already on the right track. As I was eating another woman came in and sat down at a table. She went behind the counter and spoke to the waitress and owner. She came back out and sat at the table and said hello to me. She was quite friendly, with a big smile. I asked if she was the owner's wife and she said no, she was a waitress. I told the owner the tuna sandwich was the best I'd ever had except for my own tuna. He seemed surprised and pleased. I liked it so much I may try making it at home the same way they do.Big Bill's has soups and other meat dishes besides the tuna sandwich. I think everything is freshly made and urge you to give them a try. Also, the restaurant was sparkling clean! As I sat and ate I looked around and noticed how clean it was. There were quite a few orders being picked up while I was there. One man came in after me and ate at the counter. Big Bill's opened last October and I believe it hasn't been "discovered" yet. Go now before they're packed and you can't get in!
First time there and decided to go for their "famous" chicken sandwich and was not surprised that it was really good, must add the fries to complete the order, personally. Ask about their famous sauce. Customer service was great as well and a nice clean environment, overall.
I can walk to this corner and was very glad when Ricky and crew took it over. The place is bright and cheery inside and everything I have tried has been great, including the chicken sandwich, Italian sub, curried chicken salad and homemade pie. Claudia also makes a great cappuccino!
Awesome new Cafe on Hoover Ave in Bloomfield. A friend and I came to dine here for our holiday lunch because she read a grwar write up about it along with some fabulous reviews. I ordered the three egg omelet with onions and tomatoes, and my friend selected the fried chicken sandwich which is one of their best selling meals. The omelette was light and tasty and came with toast and a side of potatoes. My fried loved her fried chicken sandwich. They have a bar and tables and what looked like a deli take out section. Our waitress was Claudia and she was delightful and efficient. We spoke to the owner, Ricky, and he said the name was in honor of his Grandfather Bill - so sweet ! May Big Bill bless this little gem from above. Highly recommend !!!
I had the pleasure of trying the Clucker (hope I got the name right) chicken sandwich over the weekend and when I tell you this sandwich bless my soul. I've never had a heartier chicken sandwich. I was actually satisfied eating half but I couldn't stop eating it, it was so good! Trust and believe, I will be back for another one!

This food was AMAZING!!! The service is so friendly and everything is so clean. A quiet little escape nestled in Jersey. Can't wait to go back !!!!
Very friendly. Burger was great.
This place is an amazing find. Whether you want to grab something to go or hang out in a cozy neighborhood spot, this is worth the stop. Nice menu (serves breakfast all day) and amazing expresso. The chicken sandwich is reason enough to come here but lots of other good stuff to enjoy. We sat and the counter to eat and Claudia provided great service and added to the warm friendly vibe. We pass here often and will be making it a regular stop.
Amazing service and equally amazing food/drinks
Finally stopped by Big Bill’s today on my way home from running errands and I’m just kicking myself for not visiting earlier!I got the fried chicken sandwich which was just damn perfect. BIG piece of well seasoned, tender, crispy chicken. The batter was on the lighter side which I really enjoyed because it let the quality piece of chicken shine through as it deserves but still had that satisfying crisp. And the special sauce… I have a feeling I’ll ask for this on everything I order here.My fiancé got Big Bill’s Italian sandwich and was equally impressed. It’s on a shorter roll than a typical 10” or so sub roll, and stacked high with very generous portions of meat, so you can enjoy the quality cuts rather than get full off bread.Just a great, friendly, welcoming, neighborhood cafe with honest high-quality food made with care and attention. All-in-all a welcome addition to town and we will be back soon for breakfast!
