Braised Kitchens Bloomfield NJ

We were really excited to try this restaurant. Placed an order on UberEats. After waiting a while and having 5 different delivery people assigned ( my guess is they didn't want to wait either), the restaurant cancelled our order. We don't know what happened but we won't try ordering from them again.

Just tried this place because of the reviews and photos. Unfortunately, my partner and I were not impressed. The jerk chicken was cooked so hard on the outside, that the meat was sticking to the skin. It was hard to chew, so I skipped the skin. But apparently that’s where the all of the seasoning was, because the chicken that didn’t stick to skin lacked flavor and was a little dry. The mac and cheese lacked flavor and was also a little hard. It was difficult to dig it out of the paper cup it was baked in. The salad I received was more akin to coleslaw, and also lacked flavor. My husband got jerk salmon, which was good, hence the 2 stars. Be he had the same opinion as me, as far as the mac & cheese and salad were concerned. I don’t mind paying well for food, but I felt this was quite overpriced for the quality of food I received. If I’m paying that much, I expect my whole meal to be on point, and that was not the case.

My son loves the mac and cheese, the atmosphere and vibe. The curry goat was amazing as well. Couldn't get a pic of the mac as my son devoured it lol

I stopped by to grab lunch and I didn’t enjoy my food at all. The food lacked that authentic Caribbean taste. You can look at the oxtails and tell they weren’t good just based off the color. Authentic caribbean oxtails are significantly darker. Also, the price is not worth the little amount of oxtails they give you. Instead of giving you more meat like you’re paying for they rather overcompensate and give you a bunch of hard Mac and Cheese. The Mac and cheese was so difficult to pick up with a fork. & It tastes stale, almost as if it had been sitting there for days. The plantains and cabbage also had a funny taste. Overall don’t believe the social media hype and the inflated google reviews.

Today was my first time trying this spot, I got the curry goat with Mac & cheese and plantains. It was delicious!!! There guava passion juice makes you want to bust a whine, and as a Trinidadian I approve of their sorrel, the ginger isn’t overpowering. I will absolutely be returning.

We went her on a whim and loved it. The Vegan Mac was a pleasant surprise (we’re not even vegan but saw good reviews), the sauce had just enough kick, the jerk chicken was perfectly done, and the portions were generous. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for good food and to support some local business

During my visit, I experience good customer service; employees are helpful and kind. The Vegan Mac and Cheese is filling. The flavors and textures of the ingredients mesh very well. If from within a shut container (as in the picture with this review, for example), one may slowly sieve grease out with the container shut, leaning sideways. I think an addition of a piece of bread will complement the meal well. The meal is so large, one may reserve portions of the meal for later. The meal travels well and is just as tasty overnight with a reheating. The eatery has indoor seating. Chill Vibes. The eatery accepts different forms of payment.

I have tried the jerk chicken, rice and peas, salad; authentic island cuisine at its best, a returning customer. My wife loves the oxtail.

Chef Paul is the Man. Makes you feel like you're in his kitchen at home. Small, quaint atmosphere and just some absolutely delicious food. You've gotta make the trip. Don't DoorDash this one, got their and experience it.

The food and service at braised kitchen was next to none! The food was bussin! Run, don’t walk, to braised kitchen and get the jerk salmon with the Mac and cheese, plantains, and the best coleslaw I’ve ever had and the sorrel! Wow my life has been changed!
