Calabrese Pizzeria & Restaurant

My first time eating here. Food was so plain. I feel like it’s made with no love. I ordered the Wednesday special and I regret it. Large pizza with baked ziti and mild wings were horrible. The wing sauce didn’t even taste like wing sauce. The pizza was super plain barely any sauce and baked ziti had no taste at all. I dislike trying a new spot, spending money and being disappointed.

While being at the location I asked if they have buffalo chicken slice and they said yes. This is what I get. A plain slice topped with chicken and blue cheese sauce. No buffalo sauce in sight. This is my first and last time.

Ordered a sub and was charged more than advertised. Looked at their menu that they have within the restaurant, says $9. Looked at website menu, says $10. I called in for pick up and was charged $11. It's cheaper to buy off slice than to call in because they'll change prices on you.

Old school halcyon Park pizzeria. The best.

I ordered for delivery, and cannot comment on service or ambience. Very few local restaurants have this variety of excellent Italian food, and it is nearly unknown in a pizzeria. As one example, the veal saltimbocca was excellent, and I paid half what I would in a local restaurant - it was enough for two meals. The hot antipasto was first-rate, and could serve four. I portioned what I ordered into six meals. Delivery was within an hour.

Sal Calabrese is a master pizza maker and the rest of the menu is awesome too. My favorite is the Sicilian Baked Ziti with eggplant. OMG:)All his ingredients are fresh and the portions are fantastic. I know my pizza folks and he's in the Top three for me. Nothing of my choices include the fast food chains. I feel like I'm having a meal cooked by Family. Sal always has a great smile and great jokes but also gives you a lot of history regarding the area. I'm a regular and even though I cook 80% of my meals at home, Sal is my go to guy when I don't feel like cooking. His other chef Julio and his mom are like family too. It's really cool to see his family stopping by for a meal. Reminds me of my trips to Italy where I only frequent mom and pop restaurants.He's open Super Bowl Sunday folks so put your orders in early. Small walk-in walk-out type of location. There is no better neighborhood pizzeria. The owner works in the kitchen. Always care about his customers. You really are family when you walk into this place. My kids always want Calabrese pizza. Me and my family are customers for life.
