Highly recommended! Been coming here a few years and always an excellent meal at a very good price in a super cozy environment. They’re a very nice husband-wife team who always give great service and are wonderful about accommodating allergy / dietary restrictions. The food quality stands out and has remained consistently outstanding after all these years. We’re so happy to have this restaurant in our community!

Home to visit family for the holidays and tried Casserole Bistro for the first time. I travel all over the country, and this was overall the best meal I've had the entire year top to bottom. Love the fact that a husband and wife own the place and greeted us when we walked in. The menu has something for everyone and the presentation is terrific. My wife and I also have a gluten allergy and they made it easy for us to order. I'll be back every time I visit and my local family has a new favorite place!

Top of the line bistro! High quality home made hole in the wall. The flavors were bold and unique. The chef welcomed us and treated us like we were family. He truly poured his soul into his food! The place is SO clean and it feels like I'm sitting in my grandmas living room!

Word around Essex County is that Montclair is getting a bit expensive and the newer restaurants are opening in Bloomfield where my partner's colleague recommended this fusion BYOB establishment located on Broad Street. Reservation is highly recommended on weekends as it's a small store front establishment with 11 tables where my partner, our friends and I came for dinner yesterday. Upon arrival, the interior was decorated in a tasteful low key manner. We were greeted and seated by our server/wife of the chef, Deisey who gave us the day's specials. The menu was varied. Each was prepared with great taste and pleasing to the eye. Complimentary bread was given to start our meal. As for appetizers, we began with Escargot Al Ajillo (garlic escargot over greens, lemon wedges and crostini), Mediterranean Cold Plate with prosciutto, chorizo, cheese, olives, artichokes, roasted red peppers, grilled vegetables, tomatoes and mozzarella, Stuffed Jumbo Mushrooms (stuffed with spinach and blue cheese, blended with a savory garlic beurre blanc), Spicy Batatas Bravas (seasoned crispy roasted potato wedges with garlic aioli) and Caesar salad. For entrees, one of us got their special, butternut squash raviolis, Eggplant Involtini (thinly sliced eggplant rolled and stuffed with shredded chicken and ricotta cheese over capellini), Braised Short Ribs crusted with sweet chilli bread crumbs, over mashed potatoes and spinach in a demi glaze and Pappardelle Fra Diavolo with clams, mussels, shrimp, bay scallops, calamari, onions, tomatoes in a marinara sauce. Chef/owner Johnny Arango wasn't only attentive in the kitchen, but also in the dining room, where he made it a point to visit every table. We even had room for some desserts and got the Home made Warm banana bread pudding with butter pecan ice cream and vanilla sauce Brownie (with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce) and churros (fried dough with ice cream and chocolate sauce). Everything we ordered was fresh and delicious as Johnny accommodated our food preferences. There was a minor detail that the Batatas Bravas could have been a bit crispier. For the price, the portion sizes were just right. What a hidden gem in the heart of Bloomfield where people are discovering this restaurant which we can recommend it.

Excellent food and excellent service. I’m amazed this place isn’t more popular than it is. It’s been right under my nose for years and little did I know this gem was here all this time. Might be one of the best restaurants I’ve ate at in Bloomfield.

We went there on Saturday night, not sure what to expect. We had to wait a little while for our menu and the wine to be poured. We ordered the crab cake appetizer, salmon from the menu and the short ribs. We were pleasantly surprised at how fabulous the appetizer and dinners turned out. I recommend this restaurant and will definitely return.

One of the best places to eat ! this is a must try. I have order several different items from here and they all have been delicious. The chief is wonderful; he accommodated our food preferences and the food is amazing .

In the same way that NYC’s best pizza title was legitimately granted to an NJ restaurant, Casserole Bistro is the best fusion food in Montclair. I honestly can’t believe that town hasn’t swamped this place yet! Plan your evening around dinner. Chef Johnny Arango nails it!
