My husband and I tried out Chimney Rock today for the first time. We ordered the Vegan Nachos and the Farmstand Vegan pizza and both were really delicious. I was prepared for a mediocre experience but my palate was happily surprised that this was the best local vegan pizza in the area. We will definitely be back to try some of the other options like vegan tacos and vegan chili!
This was my first time back to this restaurant in probably 18-20 years. From what I could tell, it looked the same which is a good thing. It has a classic old school feel to it and their menu had evolved over time. There is a large bar to the left of the entry and dining rooms on both sides. The night we were there, take out pizza was popular and there was a waiting line. Our order included a Beast Burger with fries - a supersized one pounder Big Rock! Two 1/2 lb. patties, lettuce, pickles, onion, tomato & cheese w/ special sauce on a triple decker Brioche bun ($19.99) and a Chicken Francaise - boneless chicken breast egg battered & sautéed in a white wine lemon butter sauce w/ a choice of side ($21.29). Gluten free pasta is an additional $3. What I Liked: -\tThe burger exceeded my expectations for quality and price point. It was cooked to order and was flavorful. It was a beautiful looking burger. -\tThe fries were crisp and the portion adequate -\tThey have a decent beer selection. I had the Spaten Octoberfest (1L - $15). -\tA small bowl of ice cream was $2 -\tThe chicken sauce was tasty What I Did Not Like -\tThe chicken tasted like chicken which usually means its not a fresh as it should be. It was also tough even though it was cut thin. -\tThey put a slice of white bread between the top and bottom burger patties which was rendered to mush because of the juice. I could do without it. -\tThe small amount of fudge topping on the $2 ice cream was an additional $3 which is a high price point My overall restaurant rating is 7.9/10 and my Brutus Burgerus rating is 8.4/10 Thumbs Up. For casual dining in the area this is a perfect place to take the family or friends. I plan one day to try their 28-ounce pizza which is discounted on Monday’s.
Our second time here for the anniversary and was lucky to find seats by the bar (or so I thought)! The bar top was pretty gross and we were hoping someone behind the counter would give us menus or even wipe down the counter but nope. After maybe 10minutes someone finally acknowledges us and says “what can I get you?” I said “menus”… she gets us the menus and we both decide we want the pizza. She tells me we can only order one. I said we arent paying together. She says “you sat together, you came together , you’re leaving together”. I’m literally blown away at her reply at this point. So we order one pizza and just split it. The lady sitting next to me chimed in after she left and said “she should have just given you the pizza, and left the attitude out” I agreed. It was all really just disappointing & on top of that, just having to ask for everything.
The best part was i hear another couple order 2 pizzas (we make sure to also wait and see if they get their order, they did.) My friend took a picture because he couldn’t believe it. All that attitude from the waitress ..just to see some other couple get their two pizzas. Guess this establishment has a preference. We leave and as soon as we get to the parking lot my friend said “I think it’s a race thing, because that ain’t right”.

I have been here many times over the year and food is consistently good! But what got me to write a review tonight was Kevin the bar tender. We usually get a table but decided to sit at the bar tonight and Kevin was polite, charming and knowledgeable about the menu. His suggestion on the seasonal cider Sangria was great and his personality made the experience more special than usual. I highly recommend chimney rock for their pizza and exceptional services !

Very noisy. The chicken fingers were fabulous but the pizza was not as good as I expected. I was in the room to the side for a party and the staff was huddled by the work station making alot of noise and talking so loudly. They blocked our way in and out and were rude.

We had a surprisingly bad experience here compared to the other reviews. My partner liked his meal. My soup and salad were not the best but were ok. The worst part of this came at the end of our meal. We asked for the check and then it was brought over 10 minutes later. I gave my card immediately but then the waitress was already gone. We waited for 15 more minutes but the waitress never came back. The manager came over, took our check, and said, ‘let me take your soup I don’t like it either’, which both my boyfriend and I found odd. We paid and left. Was willing to give the food another try as my boyfriend liked his meal, but the service left a lot to be desired.

Fun, laid back, family friendly atmosphere. We came on a Saturday night with reservations, and had to wait an extra 15 minutes. With this being said, I highly stress getting reservations, as even the bar was packed. It’s a decent place to watch a game if you grab seats near a TV. The only downside about the atmosphere is that it’s a tad loud.
Service was quick, and our server was really nice. Most of the servers and bus people seem like teenagers, which showed when they didn’t have the most knowledge of the beers, but they were professional, kind, and fast.
Four stars for the food. We used to come here a lot growing up, and I feel like the food has gone down in quality. We had the pretzel from their Oktoberfest menu, which I did not like as the cheese sauce was far too sharp, and the pretzel was whole wheat flavored. Buffalo chicken pizza was okay, but could have used more buffalo sauce and cheese. Overall, food was good, and a good value, just not the great food I remember!
I would come here again for a casual, fun night out, or with kids as it’s very family friendly.

The food is has become so-so. The shifts in the menu are trendy and they never seem to spin new menu items well. The regular items, for instance their pizza, tend to taste mass produced with batches of sauce shifting in acidity (age?), and changing cheeses. I’ve eaten here 10’s of times with parties typically 8 to 12. We love the ambience and that hasn’t changed. A number of the servers are young with little experience, but there’s always more experienced servers as well. This has always been the case and can lead to very different experiences.
The overall directions trickled downwards through the years, to a point where we just stopped going altogether. We had lots of good times though, too bad the food isn’t good anymore.

Food is just not that great. BBQ is dry, slaw has way too much vinegar in it, garlic sweet potatoe fries with BBQ!? Seriously. Tacos were just terrible, very bland. Overpriced in my opinion. The only reason I gave two stars on the food is that the desert is good. Decent to below average service. Make a reservation and waited 30 mins on two separate occasions. But maybe it was just bad luck.
