I stopped by for lunch before attending a performance at the Brook Art Center. The place is extremely clean (including restrooms). The menu contains lots of American and Hispanic items. I ate a wonderful sandwich with two eggs over easy but not too runny, some refried beans, and avocado, all three on a very fresh roll that had been toasted to perfection. Added a bit of hot peppers and it was delicious and filling. The place was full of happy customers, most of whom seemed to be Hispanic. Wall-mounted TVs showed a soccer game, but most customers were chatting so it did not have a sports bar atmosphere. Service was friendly and accurate. Servers managed in English but were clealy more fluent in Spanish. Loved the place and will come again. There's a convenient parking lot for customers.

The food was very good, what was really disastrous was the attention of the parking lot person, poor aptitude and proficiency.

I just placed an order, I asked for roast chicken with rice and a green salad and they didn't send me the salad, I called a thousand times to complain and they never answered me, they cut off my call, very bad of them for not sending the complete order as it comes, I paid for the complete order, not for them to only send me the chicken with only rice, I don't recommend it at all.

Being taken advantage of is never cool. I visited Douglas for the first time in many years and it was not a great experience. I ordered for 2 adults and one kid. The order included 2 waffles, we didn't ask for deluxe waffles, but it was added on anyway, apparently the difference was a dolup of canned whipped cream and one cut up strawberry per waffle, this detail will be important later. we wanted to add on 2 eggs to both waffles and sausage to one, and one kids order of pancakes, 1 coffee and 1 hot tea. Somehow that order came out to over $60 dollars! In all of my years whenever I've been to a diner and ordered breakfast this way, eggs and meat is available as an addition to the item you order and it's presented that way on Douglas' menu as it is in every diner in the world. The price isn't necessarily the problem , even though at any other diner this meal would've been under $40 and I think I'm being generous. When we brought up the price of the meal in comparison to what's on the menu, we were informed that the "waffles deluxe" is a seperate item and there were not add ons allowed. Remember, we didn't ask for waffle deluxe, but it was entered into the system that way. So, she entered every single item as an individual menu item, the 2 eggs were entered as seperate meals and the sausage was entered as a separate side. When we brought up that we didn't ask for waffles deluxe and that we thought the pricing was unfair, they basically said, "tough" it was a misunderstanding and they wouldn't be changing the price. I understand that sometimes a language barrier can cause misunderstandings, but it feels like it was used as a reason to take advantage of us and that's not cool. They tried to say they'd do something next time, to which we replied there wouldn't be a next time. Simply a ridiculous experience I'd give 0 stars if I could.

My experience is horrible today, I always go to eat or ask to pick up and today the order of the Seafood Jelly was sent to me all raw and I asked for it well cooked, I had to cook it myself if one buys to save me time, see the photos

I simply love coming to this place, almost everything is great. Service is 100% the best. However I have to ask the owner to help his chef by buying a better meat cut!! My food tasted so good as always but the meat!!!! Super hard!! Think of this as not a complaint, but a suggestion to make other customer's experiences better. I hope they do better next time.

The food is delicious and recommended but the staff is very inattentive. It has been my favorite restaurant but I think it needs to change. We have had multiple experiences that you pick up your dishes 30 minutes after finishing. You ask them for the bill and they arrive 15-20 minutes later. Multiple times we have wanted to order more food and nothing more arrives at your table after ordering the first time. And you can see them there talking in a group.

I had a deeply disappointing and disturbing experience at Douglas Diner. During my visit, I found a cockroach in my Agua de Horchata. When I discreetly brought this to the server's attention, she questioned whether the cockroach was there when she served the drink or if it had fallen in later, almost implying that I might have put it there myself. This response was both unprofessional and offensive.

Additionally, the waitstaff was overly intrusive. When I ordered a regular-sized drink for my daughter, they asked if it was all for her, which felt unnecessarily personal and nosy.

This experience has left me with no desire to return. Cleanliness and respectful customer service are paramount, and unfortunately, this restaurant failed on both fronts.
