Very good restaurant, definitely one of my top favorite Costa Rican restaurants in NJ! I would personally recommend the gallo pinto with carne and salsa meal that comes with everything! And add the natilla (sour cream) to a bit of the gallo pinto. The people are also nice.

Great food. Good service. Be prepared with Google translate!
It is the closest thing to a restaurant in Costa Rica, but in New Jersey. and I say this because of their flavor in the food and customer service.
Different culinary culture, nice and beautiful family places. Especial food, delicious, interior design is by original culture country. I'm camino back. Thank you 💚💛🩵💜

When we saw this place open earlier than the place where we were originally planned to have breakfast, right away we headed to here.
Food and service all was good. The eggs was perfectly how we requested.
We enjoyed their dishes and the only thing new to us was the tortillas.. it was huge as matter of fact at the end of paying the bills we saw we got charged for 2 tortillas $6. When our waitress Lizette took our orders she offered us the tortillas at first I was hesitant either say yes or not because I wasn’t so sure if I can even be able to finish everything and when she saw me not so sure then she said that came with the dish.
So I was like yeah sure why not.. but apparently they were not came with the dish that we had.
Anyway it is what it is next time we know overall was good place to have Costa Rican food in here.
I recommend the Cantonese Rice, with Russian salad, it is the best 🤩

Puerto Viejo has the best Costa Rican food in New Jersey. It's a shame about the service, the waitress treats you as if you owe something, with hatred, with contempt, at least that's what I've felt several times.
The taste of the spoon has made me come back... I have tried to think that the waitress is having a bad day like we have all had, however I think that no matter how delicious a place is, I cannot allow them to treat you with rejection or without I want to serve you...
I think it was great for them to know that customer service is one of the greatest pillars in the world of restaurants. (Be careful, you are not asked to greet with a kiss and hug, just with a little respect to the people who support you.) My score is 10 in food 🤤 0 in customer service.
