Amazing custom cake.

I called to see if they could do a Hungarian Dobos cake, created by a famous baker in the 1800's. Multi-layered sponge cake with rich chocolate buttercream and they NAILED IT and had it for me in ONE DAY. Even topped it with the traditional lemon-caramel garnish. Nothing short of amazing. Kudos and we will be back.

I ordered a wedding cake for my son’s wedding from DelPonte’s because everything else they make is so incredible. The wedding was great but the cake was out of this world. It was all people could talk about. We had alternating layers of chocolate and vanilla cake with lots of maple flavored icing between the layers and white butter cream frosting (the bride wanted a sheet cake). It was moist, the flavors blended and the proportion of frosting was fantastic. Everyone kept asking where it came from. People told me they normally didn’t eat cake at weddings but tried it and loved it. Definitely a total hit and a great way to end the party. Thank-you DelPonte’s!

Stopped by today to purchase a 7-layer cake for a birthday cake. Brought the cake home, did the candles and singing thing, and cut the cake. Del Ponte's has a great reputation but today was an absolute bust. The ends of the of the cake were dried out and hard. If you’re going to sell a 7-layer cake, please make sure it is fresh and not a day or two old. The cake did not meet the standard of quality expected from Del Ponte’s. Big disappointment and won’t make that mistake again.

With only a days notice and little direction, Del Ponte’s not only made the best cake- both beautiful and delicious! Be sure to go to them for any cakes and sweets you might need for a party!

What I asked for versus what I received. The pictures say it all. I called weeks ahead of time and sent photos to the head baker or owner who agreed that they would have no problem reproducing the cake in the first photo. Either this person is completely unaware of their mediocre skill set or just has no idea how to use fondant or advanced baking techniques. I was alright with a buttercream base but expected a clean finish. Clearly, it was a total mess and full of air pockets. The colored dots looked sloppy, cracked, and smashed in with fingerprints and terrible indents in the center. I also did not agree to the horrible icing and piping job for the number and name sign that were supposed to be in fondant for a crisp finish. I confirmed multiple times over the phone that the number and name sign should be done in fondant. I would also think that they would put a little effort into the colored dots being different sizes to add character like the first picture instead of a sloppy same size cutout for each one. When I arrived just before the birthday party they expected to charge me $130 for that monstrosity. After relaying my disappointment the owner did not even have the courtesy to come out and discuss the issues but used the counter cashier as an intermediary. After several broken communication attempts back and forth, he then offered 10 dollars off and to redo the letters in 15 minutes. Why were they not done correctly in the first place if he could supposedly fix them in fondant in 15 minutes!? Why would I agree to a rush job right before my son’s birthday party only to have the cake potentially look even worse!? This place just wanted to make a quick buck at the expense of a child’s birthday cake that was supposed to offer a nice picture with good memories. Had they been honest about their baking ability, or informed me the cake would look very different, then I would have gone elsewhere! I trusted the reputation and reviews but was sorely mistaken. Not only was the cake abysmal esthetically, the flavor was terrible and the cake itself was dry and disgusting. Avoid this bakery for custom cakes at all costs. They deserve a zero out of five.
