EDIT: While I do love good soul food, I had to update because I don't understand in this day and age businesses that don't post their hours or have a website. Drove 45 minutes to find they were closed today. Very disappointing

Fantastic first visit. We were greeted warmly as soon as we entered. I went with the pineapple jerk chicken with beans and rice and collard greens. So much flavor!!! I can't wait to go back and try other menu items

First of all, let me just say I really hate to give 2 stars under the food category, however, when I ordered food recently there is no other way to describe what I received but with 2 stars. I've been to this restaurant quite a few times in the past and always found the meals great. I usually order turkey wings, collard greens and mac & cheese. I've only ever had one negative in the past which was that the collard greens were too salty. When I reveived my recent order of turkey wings, greens, mac & cheese, the collard greens were mushy and tasted as if they had little to no salt in them and tasted leftover. The mac & cheese was also not good. It looked and tasted leftover as it was mushy and flavorless. I've been cooking macaroni and cheese for 40 years so I know how macaroni and cheese looks when it's been left over and reheated. The turkey wings were seasoned good, however, since they are put on top of a bed of rice and beans, I feel that extra spoonfuls of broth from the turkey wing pan should be spooned over the turkey, because rice soaks up so much broth and the turkey can almost seem dry. So sorry for the 2 stars. I will visit again and hopefully have a better food experience, but food costs too much money to pay for and receive a lackluster meal. The service was great!!

WOW!!! I’m visiting from Arizona on vacation to see my son and decided to stop in—and I am so glad we did! This was hands down one of the best meals we’ve had on our trip.

The chicken was unbelievably juicy, the fish was fried to absolute perfection, and the mac and cheese was so good I could have eaten an entire pan by myself! Every single thing we ordered was packed with flavor and cooked perfectly.

But let’s talk about dessert… those banana cheesecake cups were OUT OF THIS WORLD! Absolutely incredible and the perfect way to finish an amazing meal.

If you’re anywhere nearby, do yourself a favor and GO. Don’t walk—RUN! This place is a gem, and I’ll definitely be talking about it long after our vacation is over. Five stars all the way!!!

My daughter took me and a friend for both our birthdays. It was a very pleasant and delicious experience. I had enough dinner for three days! We all had so much food it took several containers to take with us and the food was delicious! Oh man, that fish was fried to perfection! We had no complaints and are taking my son for his birthday. Thank you, Ms. Nancy!❤️

All I can say is May God CONTINUE to Bless the hands that prepared our meal .. From start to finish, service was on point. (Thanks Chef). The empanadas were great! Food was hot. Freshly made (the minor wait was soooo worth it)😋😋.. Fried fish: well seasoned…Mac and cheese was delicious. I loved the Flavor of the rice and beans . I knew the food was going to be amazing because i over heard a customer look at her food and say “oh that’s why my husband loves this place”.. iykyk. 😂 Lol. I could go on and on about the food but my advice is to you is to go hungry so that your belly can be prepared for pure yumminess” (ask for the cornbread with some drizzle”)😋😋😋😋😋😋. Round 2 coming soon. Thank you again Taste Of Soul for putting a smile on me and my husband’s face and making our bellies full.. worth every penny and more. ! I too ashamed to posed a picture of half empty containers. 🤭😩.. we didn’t even make it out the parking spot.

I recently booked them for a repass catering. Ms. O Was extremely friendly and outgoing. The food was off the chains!

We ordered fried chicken, potato salad, mac&cheese, yams, red beans & rice, and collard greens. Not one dish was a miss! I highly recommend this restaurant! 👌

O.M.G.!!! I'd make the 1.5 hour drive just for a fish platter! Plenty of food and the fish was made to order. The banana pudding and peach-apple turnover...scrumptious! Definitely a spot to check out.

When you order food from a family owned restaurant you want it to be with authentic good people right? Well unfortunately I had the worst service experience with the staff , worst people I encountered in my life. The greens were over salted. The fish was dry and tasted like it sat in dishwater before being cooked for me . Mac and cheese was bland and mooshy . Disappointed because Burlington has some great places. This isn’t one.

Was searching for an authentic soul food restaurant around my area…came across TOS. Drove 35mins. Entered the restaurant, first thing I noticed is that I wasn’t greeted. Grab’d a menu and sat dwn before ordering two platters. Both fried whittings- one with yams, beans and rice, side of Mac…the other yams and collards and an order of banana pudding. Order took about 15-18mins to fix and total was about $63. Gotta admit, tho it was packaged up and I couldn’t see it…the food came out hot and it smelled amazing! I couldn’t wait to get home so I could dive in! I arrive home and get right to it, and boy was I immediately disappointed. I broke a piece of fish off to taste and instantly could tell it was old and completely dried out…to the point we couldn’t even eat it…nah, u really couldn’t eat it…it was dried out all the way thru. All this fried fish wasted. I was baffled as to how they had it smelling so fresh🤔but even more baffled that this establishment was selling it to its customers knowing that it wasn’t. The collards greens were tasty yet a bit on the salty side…and I like salt. Mac was mediocre. Yams were average, not gonna say they were bad. I don’t run to do reviews, but the fish was absolutely horrible and I want TOS to know it. Had it not been for the long drive and me just being tired from the day…I would have returned it. Was so disappointed, I didn’t even try the banana pudding…and probably won’t.

i didn't visit the restaurant... i ordered on door dash. the food was great. each container was sealed, so no tamper worries. the food was great I had the catfish, potato salad, beans and rice, and collard greens.
the only thing i would suggest is just a bit less season, especially the spicy hot seasons. i would order again.
(sry no pics because i ate it too quickly)

I’m new to the area and I was looking forward to enjoying fish from a soul food place but everything fell short. The fish did not taste like whiting, the amount of fish was not enough. I felt like it was something else I was eating.. it didn’t taste fresh. When I waked thru the door to pick up, everyone looked mad, like they didn’t want to be there.. a restaurant’s atmosphere tells a lot, and this one screamed out, we don’t want you here. No smiles, no greeting. I won’t be returning.
