We've been meaning to to try so many of the new restaurants in the area. We finally got here for a late lunch today. Not surprisingly on a Thursday at 2PM and snowing, we had the place to ourselves. It was fortunate because the woman who took care of us explained everything to us in detail. I wasn't familiar with the Kurobuta pork. Apparently it's known as the, "Kobe beef of pork." All their pork come from Berkshire pigs. They come from a farm in Jersey. I'm guessing North Jersey. (Lot's of cool info if you Google them) Cooking is done using White charcoal which is used in traditional Japanese cooking. We started with the crispy cauliflower. It had crispy shallots & tahini vinegarette on them. They were delicious! Then the Shanghai bao. Filling was pork. (naturally) So delicious and juicy! When you slice them in half watch for the juice to squirt! We ordered six skewers. Two with pork jowel (cheek) Two regular pork and two fish. Again, delicious. i also had a bowl of spicy miso ramen. Our server explained how the broth is simmered for eight hours with pig bones and marrow. I could tell as the broth was very rich! That was it for us. We were both very full and i even took half of my ramen. We can't wait to return and bring friends! Highly recommend! ✌️

It's a great place to dine in. Surprisingly, even though it is a local town restaurant, it gave me a city restaurant's feelings.

They hardly give you any food for what you pay. Food was OK not delicious. For $113 we got two small salads, Chicken fried rice and two scallops and a piece of cheesecake the size of a spoon. I didn’t know if I should just say something or just laugh to myself. Will not be returning.

We had an absolutely fantastic dinner there for a family members birthday. The food was amazing from the apps to the skewers and the service was 11/10. Frank and his whole crew deserve all the praise they get for this place.

I recently dined at Kurobuta in Caldwell, NJ, and I have to say, it was a truly memorable experience. From the moment we were seated, the service was outstanding—attentive without being intrusive, and the staff made us feel welcome throughout the evening.

The highlight of the night for me was definitely the cauliflower. It was roasted to perfection, with a crisp exterior and tender inside, complemented by a well-balanced seasoning. It was simple yet packed with flavor, proving that vegetables can be just as satisfying as any main course.

And speaking of mains, the prawn was another standout. Was grilled just right, served with sauce that added depth without overpowering the natural sweetness of the seafood. Each bite was succulent and flavorful.

Overall, Kurobuta is a spot I’d highly recommend. Whether you’re in the mood for something light like the cauliflower or a heartier dish like the prawns, you’re in for a treat!

Frank and his wife are an amazing team! Had the pleasure of meeting and dining here a while back and I even came back a second time and brought friends. Everything is fresh, cooked to perfection, and so delicious. I've tried half the menu and there's not a single thing I wouldn't order again. Some highlights are the branzino which is light and flavorful, oyster mushrooms, scallops in garlic butter, any dumpling variation (you can't go wrong with either), the kurage chicken which is so juicy, and any of the meat skewers. For dessert I love their taiyaki and the cheesecake. The service was great and everyone is so nice. The menu can seem overwhelming at first, but Frank does an amazing job talking you through it to help you know what and how much to order. Highly recommend making reservations in advance as this place will fill up. They do not have a parking lot so it is street parking only.

Vegetarian options: Veggie skewer options and a few appetizers.

What a great find! Food is amazing and so was the service. Our table was serviced by the owner. We were dining on patio, my daughter was a bit cold and the owner noticed and brought us super cozy blankets. We ordered several dishes. Wow! Can't wait to go back. New brunch special looks great. We may come back this weekend to try. I don't normally leave reviews but these guys deserve a five star review. Dinara
