“We've been meaning to to try so many of the new restaurants in the area. We finally got here for a late lunch today. Not surprisingly on a Thursday at 2PM and snowing, we had the place to ourselves. It was fortunate because the woman who took care of us explained everything to us in detail. I wasn't familiar with the Kurobuta pork. Apparently it's known as the, "Kobe beef of pork." All their pork come from Berkshire pigs. They come from a farm in Jersey. I'm guessing North Jersey. (Lot's of cool info if you Google them) Cooking is done using White charcoal which is used in traditional Japanese cooking. We started with the crispy cauliflower. It had crispy shallots & tahini vinegarette on them. They were delicious! Then the Shanghai bao. Filling was pork. (naturally) So delicious and juicy! When you slice them in half watch for the juice to squirt! We ordered six skewers. Two with pork jowel (cheek) Two regular pork and two fish. Again, delicious. i also had a bowl of spicy miso ramen. Our server explained how the broth is simmered for eight hours with pig bones and marrow. I could tell as the broth was very rich! That was it for us. We were both very full and i even took half of my ramen. We can't wait to return and bring friends! Highly recommend! ✌️”

“I have not physically been to their store, but have watched their TikToks and live stream.( J did an absolutely stunning job with the cakes she was making today. She did happy birthday cakes, to streamers, to a gory unicorn cake that represented a Halloween theme. She is very fast handed and very detail oriented when it comes to making those cakes come to life! She also went over how she makes roses on cakes as well which as her least favorite part, was my favorite part. It was pretty fascinating and captivating learning more about the art of cakes! We also were able to see her role from cake making, to her customer service abilities. In my opinion she was pretty kickass! She is very spunky and very funny. Mike has cultivated a very positive workplace where they have fun with the job, which is what it should be about. My strongest advise is don’t knock it till you try it for yourself! Don’t listen to others opinions until you have witnessed them, their cakes, and other goodies for yourself. Not everything online is what is seems! Go check them out!(:”

“We chose to have Calandra's Bakery make our wedding cake, and we are so glad that we did! From the moment we came in for our cake tasting, we could tell this was not their first rodeo. They came prepared with a layout of cake options. We ended up choosing the vanilla cake with vanilla custard and fresh strawberries, and it was super delicious to eat on our wedding day. In designing the cake, there were a lot of options we could mix and match/choose from which made the process super smooth for someone who didn't know what she wanted originally. Highly recommend getting your wedding cake from Calandra's.”

Recently, while celebrating my birthday with my family, I attempted to pay with two $100 Calandra's gift cards that I had purchased in 2024 and 2025. To everyone's surprise, the cards were declined because of an unexpected system error. It was certainly an embarrassing moment, especially while celebrating such a special occasion with my loved ones.

What happened next, however, completely changed my impression.

As someone who has enjoyed Calandra's Restaurant and Bakery for years, I continue to believe they serve some of the finest Italian food, bread, pastries, cakes, and desserts in New Jersey. The quality of the food has always been exceptional, the service has consistently been friendly and professional, and now I have also experienced firsthand how deeply they value their customers.
