“I have been a loyal customer of Calandra's Restaurant and Bakery for many years, and this experience reminded me why.

Recently, while celebrating my birthday with my family, I attempted to pay with two $100 Calandra's gift cards that I had purchased in 2024 and 2025. To everyone's surprise, the cards were declined because of an unexpected system error. It was certainly an embarrassing moment, especially while celebrating such a special occasion with my loved ones.

What happened next, however, completely changed my impression.

After I contacted Calandra's, Kelly personally called me, sincerely apologized for the inconvenience, and took ownership of the issue. She explained that the problem was caused by a system error, assured me that my gift cards would be fully honored, and even added a 25% bonus as a generous gesture of goodwill.

What impressed me most was not that an error occurred—because every business can occasionally experience technical problems—but how Calandra's responded. They listened, treated me with genuine respect, communicated openly, and worked quickly to make things right. That level of customer service and commitment is something you don't see very often today.

They came prepared with a layout of cake options. We ended up choosing the vanilla cake with vanilla custard and fresh strawberries, and it was super delicious to eat on our wedding day. In designing the cake, there were a lot of options we could mix and match/choose from which made the process super smooth for someone who didn't know what she wanted originally.
