We take our family to Backstreet all of the time. BYOB is a must, and the servers have no issue setting you up w glasses, wine bucket etc... Gina is our fav! The food is unmatched as Chef Tee cooks with love. The baby lamb chops, pan fried fish and cheddar encrusted grouper melt in your mouth. Appetizer favorite has to be the fried tomato's and asperges with lump crab. And leave room for Tony's banana foster, and the key lime pie !

This restaurant is a wonderful hidden gem in Cape May! It is small but very cozy inside. The service and the food are amazing! We have been coming to this restaurant for over 10 years and have never been disappointed! Highly recommend a visit to Backstreets next time you are in Cape May!

Hands down the most delicious restaurant I have been in a while. Let’s start with appetizers: pan fried tomatoes with remoulade and pan fried crab cake were sooooo delicate, full of flavors and absolutely finger licking delicious. For entree, I had pan fried sea bass in a lemon caper sauce and as soon as I had a first bite- I was almost in tears how familiar and absolutely outstanding this dish was, I enjoyed every bite and wanted to prolong this experience as much as possible. So much flavor, so much simplicity and beauty in this one dish. My bf got Caribbean jerk grouper with mashed sweet potato and it was so outstanding and both slightly spicy and sweet. To top it off, we ordered blueberry cobbler- it needed to be ordered at least 30min prior to bake—- outstanding, light and special with the scoop of ice cream. Dear Owners, CHEF and amazing attentive staff— YOU HAVE CREATED A GOLDEN PLACE—- Thank you!!!!!!!!!! Hands down the best!!!!! Sooo happy to find this place!!

It’s a cute little place with a promising menu, but the goat cheese salad was flat - mostly iceberg lettuce - and the fish entrees were good but nothing special. The bananas foster dessert was cloyingly sweet. The worst part was waiting over 40 minutes between the mediocre salad and the mains. I hope they get better at both the menu and the service, but I doubt we’ll be back.

A true find in Cape May. We wished we could stick Backstreet in our back pocket and take it home to Philly. The service was friendly in the way that makes you feel like you're a regular, instantly. The food was even better. Lamb Chops were perfectly done while the pan fried fish was delicious in a lemon and caper pan sauce, made the right way, and right out of the pan. Even the dessert of blueberry cobbler made me look around to be sure I wasn't home in the house I grew up in.
