Dined there last September with friends and I was extremely impressed with not only the food ~ which was superb but the ambiance and the staff !!!! What can make or break and differentiate between good and GREAT is the staff ~ and the staff at the Ebbitt Room restaurant in the Virginia House B&B was superb. Even on a busy night the attention we received was perfect.

We had an 8:00 pm reservation for a party of eight. We arrived about 10 minutes early and were told our table would be ready in 15 minutes. In reality, we waited close to 50 minutes. I’ll give them a pass on that—things happen, especially during busy seasons.
Our waitress was very nice and attentive, which was a bright spot. Unfortunately, the food itself was underwhelming. My husbands pork chop was very undercooked in the center. He chose not to send it back because, honestly, it wasn’t good enough to bother fixing.
What completely ruined the evening was what happened afterward. When my husband gave the valet our ticket, he was told they couldn’t find our keys to our Tahoe because “the guy went home for the night.” We were given the runaround. Thankfully, I have a tracker on my keys and pulled it up on my phone—they were in our car. As I was walking towards the location, the car suddenly moved and pulled up.
The valet had left our keys inside an unlocked $80,000 vehicle parked on a random street in Cape May. There was no apology. Just “here is your car.”
Between the long wait, underwhelming food, and a completely unacceptable valet situation, we will never return.

My husband and I visit The Virginia Hotel annually for the holidays. Our waitress was Ema. She was very nice and attentive. The food was DELICIOUS!! I had my first wagyu carpaccio and it was AMAZING! We had caviar, deviled eggs, the m/p crudo, a burger, one dessert and 6 drinks. For less than $270 without tip, you can't beat it. The food is top notch. The decor is GORGEOUS!! Whether you get a seat on the porch or indoors, you will be happy. The indoors is more festive but the outdoors is cozy & charming. The indoors can get cramped and loud.
I highly recommend this spot for any time of year. The main restaurant is great, the drinks are well crafted, the servers are professional, and The Virgina Hotel is just an experience year-round.

Don’t rush to eat there. I had a reservation for a party of 5 and after waiting a 1/2 hour to be seated and plenty of empty tables we were seated right outside the kitchen. The kitchen noise and constant traffic and banging of the kitchen door was unbearable. After bringing this to the attention of the manager, absolutely nothing was done, even though empty tables were available. Food was average, but the fatty NY strip steak was undercooked and smothered in a sauce and couldn’t eat it. Don’t spend your money there.

The atmosphere is classic Cape May and beautiful. My husband and I have tried there 3 times hoping the next time will be better. The service is terrible and at the most recent the waitress at The Porch ignored us blatantly. Not trying again. The food isn’t better than other places in cape May and the atmosphere doesn’t make up for the awful service.

The food was on the cold side and they forgot the Thanksgiving turkey on one of our plates. $95 per person plus drinks for a turkey dinner. We did enjoy it but were squashed in and the people next to us were very close. You felt Like you were sitting with them. I will go back to the Ebbitt Room but not for THANKSGIVING.
Overrated, Food was overpriced! Go somewhere else! The “fixed” menu was so not worth it Ham fatty, dry turkey & when u divide each item appetizer 33/entree /desert$33 & drinks expensive But the porch had been nice & warm at least.
What a beautiful and delicious restaurant for a special night out in Cape May. Everything was delicious from cocktails, to appetizers, entrees and dessert. And the service was excellent.
One of my favorite places to go in Cape May. Whether its for just cocktails or if im staying for dinner too, its always wonderful. Atmosphere is wonderful, food is delicious and service is excellent. Cant wait to go back.

I almost hesitate to write this review because I want to keep it "secret" but I think most people already know about it. We ate in the "Secret Garden" in the back of the Virginia Hotel and it was simply incredible. Even in mid November, the temperature was perfect thanks to the heat lamps. The food was nothing short of fantastic and our server, Mickey, was very personable and attentive. I also got to see how she handled a "difficult" table and she was kind and professional. Very impressive. For dessert, we ate on the Virginia Hotel Porch and it was so much fun. The Virginia Hotel and Ebbitt Room are Jersey Shore gems.
Worth it. Expensive but worth it. $65 for the three course dinner but they get you on the wine and cocktails. Ebbitt Room is a top 5 restaurant in cape may
Love this place! It was mu husband and I 's first trip to Cape May to celebrate our 1 year anniversary. The Ebbitt room did not disappoint. They really made our anniversary truly special. Can't wait to visit again!
We had a fantastic experience at the Ebbitt Room! The food was great from the apps to dessert. The pork chop was delicious and served as the chef's preference. The pumpkin cheesecake was really balanced without an overall strong pumpkin taste. I definitely recommend both! One of the best spots to eat in Cape May.
The food was absolutely delicious! We started with the Arugula Fig salad followed by the Misto Halibut. For dessert we had to Pumpkin Cheese cake. Every entree was superb, our compliments to the Cheff! My only complaint was that my Cosmo wasn't the best but I still gave 5 stars because the food and staff were the best! Thanks for a great night!
