We all tried the winter Cafe Menu. Nice offerings and everything was delicious. Our server, Theresa, was the best. Very knowledgeable and she provided excellent service!

We enjoyed our dinner at the Ebbitt Room. We were seated on the Porch and it was a lovely experience. Our server, April, was wonderful and made sure of our every need. The dinner was amazing.

I recently dined at the Ebbitt Room, and I have never had such a conflicting experience. While the kitchen and bar are clearly talented, the service and management decisions completely ruined the evening. The Positives: I have to give credit where it is due as the food and drinks were genuinely great. We ordered the calamari, celery root soup, scallops, and the chicken breast. Everything came out delicious and perfectly prepared. The drinks were also a highlight specifically the pomegranate margarita and the winter sangria. The bartender clearly knows what they are doing. The Service: Absent and Unprofessional. Unfortunately, the night took a sharp turn regarding the service. Our waitress was virtually non existent. She spent the entire night chatting with another couple, barely sparing a moment for our table outside of taking the initial order. It got to the point where the bartender had to do the waitresses job. Our drinks were sitting on the bar for quite a while until the bartender finally walked them over to us, saying, "I just wanted to drop these off so they wouldn't sit out." Later, we watched the bartender go into the back and run food to the other couple, the very table our waitress was busy socializing with, telling them he, "just wanted to bring this out so it would still be hot." The bartender was acting more like a waiter than our actual server was. Sketchy Billing & Atmosphere: Things got even stranger when the check arrived. We noticed a $24 charge for a "cheeseburger"—an item that isn't even on the menu. We flagged down the waitress, and before we could even explain the issue, she immediately said, "Oh yes, you are right, there is an error, sorry about that." It was an incredibly odd reaction; she knew there was an error before we even vocalized what was wrong. To top it off, the dining room was absolutely freezing. When we asked why, the waitress claimed the heat was broken. However, upon visiting the restroom, the heat was pumping just fine.

We waited over 45 mins for our table. We were then seated out on the patio but the heater didn't work and we asked to move inside since it was cold. The table inside was broken and slanted to the point that our food was sliding off the plate. Service was good and food was yummy but the seating was a disaster.

The Ebbitt room always had great food and the staff were welcoming. Unfortunately that has changed. We had Cioppino and rainbow trout. The Cioppino was tasteless and the rainbow trout was swimming in oil. For the cost which is comparable to the better restaurants in Cape May it was definitely not worth it. The heater over our head was very hot. The staff do their functions as functions with no interest in customers. It's sad as it is a beautiful place and always had the best food.

Absolutely incredible experience. Ordered the tuna appetizer- delicious and large portion. Scallops were amazing as well. Husband ordered the A5 wagua melts it your mouth.

Dined there last September with friends and I was extremely impressed with not only the food ~ which was superb but the ambiance and the staff !!!! What can make or break and differentiate between good and GREAT is the staff ~ and the staff at the Ebbitt Room restaurant in the Virginia House B&B was superb. Even on a busy night the attention we received was perfect.

We had an 8:00 pm reservation for a party of eight. We arrived about 10 minutes early and were told our table would be ready in 15 minutes. In reality, we waited close to 50 minutes. I’ll give them a pass on that—things happen, especially during busy seasons.

Our waitress was very nice and attentive, which was a bright spot. Unfortunately, the food itself was underwhelming. My husbands pork chop was very undercooked in the center. He chose not to send it back because, honestly, it wasn’t good enough to bother fixing.

What completely ruined the evening was what happened afterward. When my husband gave the valet our ticket, he was told they couldn’t find our keys to our Tahoe because “the guy went home for the night.” We were given the runaround. Thankfully, I have a tracker on my keys and pulled it up on my phone—they were in our car. As I was walking towards the location, the car suddenly moved and pulled up.

The valet had left our keys inside an unlocked $80,000 vehicle parked on a random street in Cape May. There was no apology. Just “here is your car.”

Between the long wait, underwhelming food, and a completely unacceptable valet situation, we will never return.

My husband and I visit The Virginia Hotel annually for the holidays. Our waitress was Ema. She was very nice and attentive. The food was DELICIOUS!! I had my first wagyu carpaccio and it was AMAZING! We had caviar, deviled eggs, the m/p crudo, a burger, one dessert and 6 drinks. For less than $270 without tip, you can't beat it. The food is top notch. The decor is GORGEOUS!! Whether you get a seat on the porch or indoors, you will be happy. The indoors is more festive but the outdoors is cozy & charming. The indoors can get cramped and loud.

I highly recommend this spot for any time of year. The main restaurant is great, the drinks are well crafted, the servers are professional, and The Virgina Hotel is just an experience year-round.

Don’t rush to eat there. I had a reservation for a party of 5 and after waiting a 1/2 hour to be seated and plenty of empty tables we were seated right outside the kitchen. The kitchen noise and constant traffic and banging of the kitchen door was unbearable. After bringing this to the attention of the manager, absolutely nothing was done, even though empty tables were available. Food was average, but the fatty NY strip steak was undercooked and smothered in a sauce and couldn’t eat it. Don’t spend your money there.
