The new chef is doing great! Best dinner in Cape May this year! The fried chicken is better than Red Rooster in Harlem. Everything was delicious and cooked perfectly. And of course, sitting on the beautiful porch was one of the highlights of our vacation. Holly recommended.

Loved the fried chicken, unique flavor and texture in the breading and nice and juicy, plus it’s a great portion. Excellent crab chowder too. Really nice setting too, will definitely return.

Very disappointed in the entire experience, which was very different from previous visits. Drinks, including the Arnold Palmers, were watered down. Every dish need d seasoning ( which I anticipated because the tables around us were asking for salt) and most crimminal of all, they have removed their famous chocolate pie from the menu. A Cape May favorite is now ancient history

Food was excellent. We had the fried chicken, the roasted oysters, corn and crab soup and the fried eggplant. Highly recommend the soup and fried chicken.

Five star food in a casual atmosphere! The Magnolia Room at the Chalfonte is a little hidden gem in Cape May. Dine inside or outside on the historic porch. Since it was raining, we opted for inside. Service was excellent, staff were attentive and friendly. Cocktails from the King Eddy were perfect as always. Usually known for their brunch, we gave dinner a go and were not disappointed: New York strip special ::chef kiss:: Tuna Special ::chef kiss::
Parking: Depending on the time of year, parking can be difficult. Might be a walk of 3+ blocks to find something.

We had an amazing dinner with friends here. Seated on the porch with a nice light breeze we enjoyed the southern fare of crab cakes, the fried chicken, duck and the chickpea cake (vegan option). Everyone loves theirs and it was such a relaxed atmosphere we did not feel rushed. We stayed for the Tuesday night jazz in the speakeasy behind the little bar. Such a fun time! We will be back!

Amazing breakfast and dinner!! For breakfast I got the Chalfonte breakfast and for dinner I got the fried chicken, and both were amazing.
Kid-friendliness: There is a children’s menu.

Booked an 8pm reservation and asked specifically for outdoor dining. Hostess said not a problem. Show up a bit early, hostess tells us outside isn't available, we'd have to wait up to an hour. Fine we'll take the inside. Ended up leaving an hour later, all of the outdoor tables were completely cleared. Obviously they didn't want to bother, which is fine. Then don't say it's available when booking. Poor service on their part. On to the dining experience. Waitress was fine, attentive. The food, well that's where the experience is soured completely. For the price of the food you'd expect something good. You'd be dead wrong. This place was known for it's fried chicken. Why did my fried chicken look like and taste like KFC? Pretty dry. The biscuit may have been a brick. Others weren't thrilled with their plates either. Some okay, but nothing special. Definitely not worth it. Disappointed and would never come back. I never leave reviews unless they give me a reason to, good or bad. This is one where I feel I truly wasted my money and time.

I went for dinner with my friend on the last night of our vacation. The Magnolia Room's fried chicken had been recommended to us by an associate, so we figured we'd go and try it. The food wasn't bad, but it was nothing special-a bit better than fast food, for $30-something a plate. The service we received was lacking. Our server forgot our request for sauce, it took forever to get our drinks or even get our order in, and it felt like they were generally distracted despite it being a fairly slow night. I don't think I'd recommend this place or go back.

The food was very good. I had the scallops with cream corn. It was all very good and the dessert was good as well. The cocktail Keywester was also good. The service was not the greatest. We had to wait awhile for service. The price of the food was very high.

Definitely not worth the price. I. Had the chicken and I’d rather have KFC. Bland. The slaw was nasty. The biscuit was ok.
$13 for 3 deviled eggs. They are eggs lol .
Would not go back. What a waste of time and money .

The Magnolia Room is located in the Chalfonte Hotel. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Hostess must seat you or have an reservation reserved. Magnolia Room serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The steak, butter potatoes, asparagus and the peanut butter bar are my favorites on the menu so far.
