What an amazing meal last night. We have been here many times before and some of the old standbys (the pate for example) remain excellent. The fois gras preparation was creative, visually attractive, and delicious. We both had duck, but different dishes and both thought they were among the best we've ever had. The cassoulet was moist, the beans plump and juicy. Not dry like they so often are. And the addition of some saffron was a great addition and really impacted the taste....
Right off the bat, the room we were placed in for our reservation was way too loud for a fine dining restaurant. You would expect such noise in a bar but not a restaurant like Maison Bleue. So it was hard to have a conversation, hard to hear the waitress. The service was good and the dinner was good, but the coffee was luke warm and not tasty. It was a shame as it was a birthday dinner for my wife and the experience in the restaurant was not satisfying . We had better experiences...
Delicious food, plenty of menu choices, prices are reasonable for quality of food, only thing that could be improved is noise level. There are bare floors and tall ceilings, voices were bouncing around and were quite lively. It didn't ruin our food, but we did agree when we left the restaurant that it was noisy in the dining room.
