Always wanted to go and now I have. Excellent. Worthy of all the hype. Everything was perfect. Felt so Special. New fav in Cape May. Special shout out to our Server Chris for his attentiveness knowledge and fun personality!
Extreme noise could not hear table conversation nor the waiter ... no crab in the halibut rosotto, halibut crudo was tough large pieces, wine bottle prices extremely high after being a byob til this year ... have dined there many times this was just not a good experience for the price tag, was always quiet elegance
This was our second visit, enjoyed the food and drink! Staff was very courteous and attentive. A gem of Cape May!
Peter Shields is back. What a great dinner. Food was exceptional. Our waiter Peter was as always tops. He made the night special. Highly recommend this restaurant
Peter Shields Inn is the one Cape May experience you don't want to miss. The ambience, service, hospitality, and amazing food make this the top spot in Cap May. They deliver a consistent experience day in and day out. Be sure to get a reservation in advance, they can book up quickly. Cheers!!!
The service for water refills, plate clearing could be better. Food slow to come out of kitchen but we were informed and they apologized. Food was very good and we would go back.
We ordered octopus appetizer flavors were outrageous but it was chewy. They generously replaced it with oyster appetizer which was delicious! Complimentary roll was just okay! Our main courses were outstanding! Perfect ambiance to celebrate an anniversary!!! Piano was amazing!!!
Always enjoy dining here. Amazing location. Great food. Perfect service
Exquisite restaurant all the way around
We were a party of 5 women, one who had a birthday. Hostess said happy birthday, our waiter Chris treated us differently from a table of two couples. He never asked who was birthday person. We tipped accordingly. One person was paying bill and he assumed he was getting 5 credit cards.

Been dining at PSI a few times per year over the last few years and while it’s consistently a phenomenal experience, our most recent visit drove me to this review. The ambiance, the pianist, the new bar/cocktail menu, etc is perfectly composed - a top notch spot for a nice evening out.
However, our server, Peter, was the highlight of our most recent visit. An absolute pro, taking obvious pride in his job. His genuine and attentive demeanor made it feel as though we were his sole focus/table. Simultaneously, as hands on as he was, he also perfectly faded into the scene, allowing us the rare opportunity of date night conversations (left the young ones home).
And as always, the food was phenomenal. Great job all around at PSI.
No longer a BYOB. Great food. Corn Crab chowder was fantastic.
This is a nice place to stay but be aware rooms 1 and 2 are right next to a seating area where people unfortunately are allowed to congregate and socialize until 9pm. If they are talking loudly and laughing it literally feels like they are in your room. As 1 and 2 are the more expensive rooms, people booking should just be aware of this. There is a sign asking people to be considerate and use the downstairs room for socializing, which is perhaps not prominent enough. If it were not for this situation I would gladly give 5 stars.
My husband and I came for dinner at the Peter Shields Inn. This was our first time dining here, and it was excellent. We sat indoors in the elegant yet relaxing front dining room. Our server was kind, knowledgable and attentive. For my entree, I ordered the sea bass en papillote which was outstanding. My husband had the rib chop with hotel butter which he said was perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious as well. This is our new favorite fine dining spot in Cape May. We did not stay at the Inn itself on this trip but are considering booking there for our next visit as it looks lovely and the location is so serene.
Fantastic food, top-notch service, and a setting so charming it should come with its own rom-com. Every dish was a hit, and the staff made us feel like VIPs. Prices are a bit high—but hey, greatness rarely comes cheap (and neither does lobster). Worth every penny for a special night out!
Thanks to out server - Peter
