What a fabulous experience. As you enter this grand historic building you are greeted with piano music filling the room by an actual pianist. The ambiance, the food, the meal selections and the staff were all superb. Great drinks, now that it is no longer a byob. The desserts were great. Dylon and Sean were very attentive. We will be back!!!! Perfect evening with friends!!

We've been going to the Peter Shields Inn for many years. We stay at their Inn and always be sure to make dinner reservations, at their restaurant, every time we come to Cape May. Food is always excellent, as is the service and staff.

The service is better than the food. And The food is Excellent. The piano was great. The manager kept dimming the lights as the evening progressed to make for a luxurious atmosphere. The menu is diverse with something for everyone. Drinks were good and plenty. All in all it is the best of CapeMay. And that is saying a lot.

As always the entire experience was fabulous. Best escargot I've had in a long time! Sea bass was fantastic. Servers very attentive but not obtrusive. The newly added bar had outstanding drinks and wine. Highly recommend!

Very pleasant experience. Shawn was our waiter, and he was excellent. Extremely pleasant and knowledgeable. We enjoyed his recommendations and humor! We also stayed overnight in their suite, beautiful place, and great location. Wonderful evening!

Delicious food, friendly, helpful and professional service. Our server, Jennifer, was lovely.. We had a delightful meal while overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Peter Shields Inn now has a full bar service.

I always said Peter Shields was my favorite restaurant in Cape May. But it has slipped a bit. Little things have changed, like they would ask if you wanted to check your wine sac , wait staff was dressed better and more attentive. My pork loin was a little dry. With that said it is a beautiful restaurant , hostess was terrific and I I will be back, but it has lost some of its ambience. When I have reviewed in the past I always added that this restaurant deserves proper attire. Well that's gone. Sign of the times I guess.

Great place! The room we stayed in was cute and had everything we needed. And I love that it's an old place, it gives it that cozy feeling. And it's right across the street from the beach.

We had the pleasure of having our anniversary dinner there last night. Amy the hostess was very kind and gave us a nice table. Sean was our waiter very knowledgeable on the cuisine. My oysters were fabulous. However the Iceberg salad with only one shrimp and crabmeat did not look good. For the cost of it I excepted more. I did not even try but Sean graciously removed it from our check. My hubby had the salmon very tasty cooked perfectly. My chicken was very tasty. I also do not like potatoes or rice so they provided me with nice tasty vegetables. The piano music was perfect. Overall it was a pleasant evening.

I don’t usually write reviews but what happened here absolutely deserves an unsatisfactory review. I was attending a private event for a family member here and one guest had a small medical emergency. He ended up being fine but an ambulance was called. Despite this, the staff were cleaning up the event to get ready to open the restaurant. The only issue with this was that they were moving stuff around on the porch where this medical emergency was taking place. They even said many times that they needed to get the place ready for the restaurant guests whilst obviously not caring that there were paramedics trying to help someone on the porch. I was asked by an employee of the hotel if the person receiving medical assistance was staying at the hotel and I (stupidly but truthfully) told her no. She then said “ok”, walked away, and started the cleanup operation that was blocking the path from the emergency to the ambulance. I didn’t want to yell at the lady in charge because I was staying there and didn’t want to get kicked out but her decision to clean up around an active medical emergency was completely unacceptable. If you can avoid this place I suggest you do because unless you’re staying there, they will not care about your safety whatsoever.
