My wife and I were walk in customers and arrived after a show to a full bar. After speaking with the host we were seated at a hightop in the bar. Monika our server was super friendly and attentive. She described the Blackened Snapper Special over fingerling potatoes twice to me. I ordered it and our food arrived promptly, hot and delicious. Was an excellent last minute idea. Oh, the cocktails are on point.

We absolutely love this place — the best bar and food in Cape May. Amazing service.

Called and asked if they could fit us in and talked to Kyle on the phone and he said “You can come as a walk in, right now we have 3 TABLES open in the bar ROOM.” So we went right there within 10 minutes and went to the host stand who told us the bar was open seating, so we sat at the one open table in the bar to be told it was reserved and then we said oh we called and said that there were open tables and the host told us to sit at any opening in the bar, then talked to two employees who said oh you must have talked to kyle, so went back up to the host who was finally Kyle to be told that he didn’t say the tables, he meant the bar, which obviously was false, and i told him he could listen to the phone recording to see that he told us the tables were open, which then he said, “we won’t miss you”. TERRIBLE service. We will never come back and I hope you all don’t. The photos are very misleading and it is not what it looks like online anyways. Very disappointing. Was very excited to try this place after living and visiting many Cape May restaurants for years and hearing from another fellow local to try this place but after being greeted with such bad service, I will not return.

There will always be good and sometimes a great restaurant one finds on vacation. This week I discovered gold and its name is the Cricket Club in Cape May, New Jersey. In a word simply scrumptious! Luscious food, presented beautifully, remarkably complex ingredients that will thrill even the most jaded of taste buds. We entertained friends two nights in a row at the Club and from everything ordered from Spinach and Fig Salad, Crab Cakes, the Club Sandwich to a dreamy, creamy cheesecake was fabulous. Service is warm, attentive, and professional without being stuffy. The menu is extensive, reasonably priced, and given the taste and quality a true bargain. There is nothing not to love about the Cricket Club so be good to yourself and make a reservation. As you can tell from this review I am happy I did!

My wife and I were looking for some after dinner cocktails and stumbled upon The Cricket Club.

We were invited to seat ourselves at the bar and promptly welcomed by the bartenders. The live music was both well played and set at a very reasonable volume, it was not difficult to talk to my wife next to me or a few of the folks around us.

We were thoroughly impressed by the variety in the cocktail menu. It features lots of modern combinations and tending ingredients. There were lots of interesting summer-themed offerings. The bartenders were friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. The drinks were fantastic. We didn’t order food, but it did look appetizing.

As the night wound down, we had a great time conversing with the staff and some of the regulars. We can’t wait to visit again.

The Cricket Club is a modern and refreshing change of pace from some of the “old guard” restaurants in Cape May. If you’re looking for a watered down Manhattan in an oversized martini glass, this might not be the spot for you. If you’re looking for contemporary, well-made cocktails, this is your place.

If you expect the Cricket Club to be anything like its predecessor, the Marian Inn, think again. The grand piano is gone along with the late beloved piano player, George Mesterhazy, replaced by two guitar players. Also absent is what was boasted as the oldest turn of the century mahogany bar in Cape May, substituted with a modern version of every other bar in town. Likewise, if you were expecting the classic wide conical bowl long stem martini glass, that has been swapped for a champagne glass out of 1925 (no Tito's). The pork chop was good but the male wait staff at the pub was too busy talking up the female waitresses to take care of the customers. Go for the dinner, skip the cocktails.

We tried the Cricket Club during Cape May Restaurant. The $55 per person price fixed menu offered a wide selection of dinner options to choose from. For one of our appetizer we tried the Spicy Tuna Roll which was Breaded, flash fried and served with pickled ginger, soy, wasabi and wakame salad. It was very tasty and fresh. Our second appetizer was the Loaded Potato Muffins consisting of Shredded potatoes, scallions, bacon, and white cheddar served with tomato jam, truffle parmesan seasoning and honey herb butter. Both were delicious.

For entrees we chose the Wagyu & Burrata
American wagyu ground beef, red wine tomato ragu, burrata ravioli, parmesan and basil. Think of it like a pasta bolognese.
The other being a Pork Chop
Espresso rubbed pork chop served with mashed sweet potatoes, green beans, bacon fig jam, and bourbon maple demi glace.

Desert was Creme Brulee and Lemon Ricotta Cheesecake. Both very good.

The staff was attentive and friendly. We would definitely return.

Everyone was super nice and the food/drinks were delicious! Unfortunately, our server Carol tarnished our experience. We were putting in our order for the food we wanted and were looking forward to enjoying together and she told us we were ordering too much food and needed to order less. We finished every plate clean and would have gladly enjoyed the other appetizer that we felt pressured to remove from our order. Her comment was extremely triggering and made me feel really uncomfortable :( I didn’t think it was necessary to be told how much I’m capable of eating without any knowledge of my dietary habits/mindset around food
