15Mar-As we were big fans of the previous occupant, The Merion Inn, while in town we decided to take a chance and try this new place.Called for an early dinner and greeted by a very friendly and humorous gentleman who set us up with a table just around the corner from the bar w/live music.Opened with wine and of course, a Bloody Mary.Excellent choices and the Bloody was mixed in house (no pre-mix), Big plus.It was a bit light with the add ons but made up for it in flavor. It was extra spicy and delicious.Highly recommended. Our entries included scallops with whipped sweet potatoes and green beans.I had the special, Halibut w/couscous in a cream sauce. We can't say enough about our meals. Both were absolutely outstanding as was the service.Big props to KellyShe helped make our dinner fun and after our long drive, it was a pleasure. We finished with their own cinnamon ice cream over apple cobbler.Again, excellent.A bit pricey but, worth every penny.Remembering you are a stone's throw from Cape Mays pristine beaches.Great service, great meal, great atmosphere. We will absolutely return.5 Solid StarsHighly recommended

I’m giving 4 stars only because we didn’t eat here but what I saw being served looked so good I was wishing we were hungry. We were in town on a weekend mid-February and stopped in late afternoon. We sat at the bar and had a couple drinks. They were very good and the bartenders were personable and attentive. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Bathrooms were clean. We walked from the hotel so I can’t comment on parking but Cape May is pretty walkable. If I’m ever in Cape May again I would come back here to try the food.

Best onion soup in Cape May! Scallops were excellent as well as the short rib. My only comment is the side dishes are not original. String beans and mashed potatoes I can do at home lol. Give me something I can’t make in my Own home. Great service and staff.

Had the spicy tuna sushi appetizer. It was good, but I was expecting more of a tempura type of fry as opposed to a crumb. Lamb chops were tasty. The apple onion soup was delicious and I give extra points for creativity because I've never heard of apples in onion soup. Really good.I had the salmon over risotto. Salmon had a nice sear on the outside and the buttery sauce was very nice with the fish.Live music added to the vibe. Salted caramel Manhattan was really good. I had two.

We went here for the New Years Eve three-course dinner and unfortunately it was really bad. We were excited, the menu looked great. It was a major let down. The good: We both liked the first course -- curried cauliflower soup and grilled romaine salad. We got a great bottle of wine, which was priced pretty fairly by the bottle. These factors bump my review up to two stars. The bad: Basically everything else. For second course, we ordered scallops and the tuna roll. The tuna roll is just a poorly conceived dish in my opinion (although I see in the comments that someone else posted a picture with a positive review , so perhaps that's an agree-to-disagree thing.) It's a fried sushi roll with some kind of indiscriminate mush on the inside. It was lacking in both texture and flavor. The scallops tasted like they were a day away from going bad, but relative to everything else, they were relatively OK.Our main entrees -- the filet w/ butterfly shrimp and halibut -- were really poorly prepared. Both of them were way, way, way overcooked and cold when they arrived at our table. My filet was missing a demi-glace sauce as I observed it plated at the tables beside me. Sides were a mixed bag -- the mashed potatoes were cold, but maybe they would have been good if they were hot. The asparagus was good. The risotto was fine. For desert, the sorbet was was half-melted when it arrived at our table. My companion wondered (half-jokingly) if they were messing with us for some reason by serving these clearly poorly prepared dishes. The creme brulee was fine, although it was more like lightly-flamed pudding, lacking the satisfying-to-crack cap of carmelized-crusted custard.Maybe we just got bad plates on a night they were overwhelmed and trying to do too much. The plates we observed at some nearby tables seemed a bit more properly cooked, but I'm hesitant to give much benefit of the doubt based on how bad-to-mediocre most of our meal was.Overall, I suppose I could have complained and sent the food back, but honestly it's just not my style (and not something I think anyone really wants to do on a festive night out for a special dinner.) My companion and I are pretty easy to please! We are neither food snobs nor new to "nicer food." But I think I can safely say it was the worst $200 meal I've ever had. At least the wine was good.

Pretty atmosphere however for the price point the food could have been more substantial… gumbo had a good flavor however we are used to gumbo with seafood or andouille sausage which had neither… almost felt like we were eating soup.

This was our second visit to the Cricket Club. During our first visit, we enjoyed cocktails at the bar late in the afternoon in the summer. This time we visited for dinner on a busy Saturday in December. The restaurant was festively decorated for Christmas and was packed with no space at the bar. We were promptly seated in a quiet corner near windows which was perfect considering how busy it was. To start, the curry cauliflower bisque was creamy and delicious. I also got the spicy tuna roll which was large enough for an entree. We both appreciated how the Cricket Club has an interesting menu that is different from the usual seashore fare. As we enjoyed our dinner, the live music began. We agreed that the light live jazz was a great accompaniment to the meal.

This restaurant is beautifully redone. We enjoy cocktails and wine at the bar, the music, and the food. It’s becoming one of our favorite Cape May places.

Food can be pricey but the lighter fare is reasonable and there is an ample amount. Ambience is very relaxing. Service was very good and very attentiveParking: We had early dinner reservations during a weekday so parking was not a problem. I have never eaten here on a weekend but I imagine parking may be more of a challenge during the weekends

The Cricket Club delivers! I was looking for a nice new place for dinner in Cape May and my daughter in law suggested the Cricket Club. We were able to get a 5:30 reservation and were seated promptly. The drink menu was extensive and I ordered a moscow mule, delicious. I ordered fried oysters for an appetizer (very lightly friend) they came out dried up :(. The Oyster stew was incredible. Light broth creamy and several large oysters just divine. The cauliflower curry soup got rave reviews. I had the crab cakes - 2 jumbo lump crab cakes beautifully seasoned no filler. just WOW! There was live music setting up as we left, we will return.
