My husband and I booked a stay at the Virginia Hotel via a phone call directly to the hotel after winning a gift certificate. I told the staff on the phone that I had a gift certificate and they informed me to bring it and it would be applied to the cost of the room at check out. Upon check out, I was told by the manager that it looked like my reservation was made online and they could not use my gift certificate. After showing the manager my phone log which proved I called the hotel directly to book my room, the manager stated he didn't know why his system was showing the reservation was made online. He stated there must of been some kind of hacking of the phone call that redirected my call and changed how my reservation was made. Whatever happened that changed my reservation was an error on the hotel's side, not my own- which the manager agreed, it was fault of the hotel. However, he refused to honor my gift certificate, refused to refund my money, refused to issue me another gift certificate for use at a future stay. While we did enjoy our stay, the terrible customer service by the staff and the manager put a damper on our weekend.

The Virginia Hotel is one of the crown jewels of Cape May. The staff and management provided impeccable customer service from the moment we walked in to the moment we departed. Our room was cozy and very comfortable. And the bed was like sleeping on a cloud. We had dinner in the Ebbitt room and what a superb experience. Once again, impeccable service topped off with delectable food in a beautiful Victorian setting. The entire staff at the Virginia Hotel and Ebbitt Room went above and beyond to make our stay as perfect as possible. And they definitely accomplished it. Special thanks to Trey, Milos our server and Nicholas the General Manager. Thanks for making our stay so wonderful and memorable. We look forward to returning soon.

We’ve stayed at The Virginia before at The Red Cottage. This time it was The Pink Cottage and it was better than before. Cozy, warm and inviting. Everyone on staff gives new meaning to the word “hospitality”, but I feel that special attention needs to be brought upon one person in particular. I know first-hand it’s not easy being a breakfast server, but Trey not only makes it look easy, but you can tell he loves his job and where he works. Trey takes pride in being warm and welcoming to his guests and is a testament to The Virginia’s reputation. Thanks to all for providing a wonderful weekend to my family!

Another magical mother daughter holiday weekend at The Virginia! Although always a great place to stay, the Virginia is most magical at Christmas time. Interior and exterior holiday decorations are exquisite! You can have breakfast delivered to your room every morning. The selections are diverse and equally enjoyable!Sitting on the porch with a holiday cocktail watching all of the festive comings and goings is one of our favorite things to do. Highly recommend! This year, Trey shined as an outstanding employee. He truly adds to the high class and ambiance found at the Virginia.Treat yourself and make visiting the Virginia a holiday tradition!

First class hotel. Great central Cape May location within steps of beach and shopping promenade. The staff very attentive and good parking with valet service. Restaurant and bar are first class. Several nooks to sit down and take in the ambience. Tailored to adult clients and hews close to this mission. We have enjoyed this facility as the Cape May go to base to enjoy the Jersey shore year round.

Quaint stay in the beautiful shoretown of Cape May. Near the beach and Washington Street Mall where the town's main attractions are located.Phenomenal service made me feel like a very important guest when I stayed.

The Virginia Hotel is top shelf for luxury and comfort at a reasonable price. My wife and I were celebrating our 43rd wedding anniversary and were extremely pleased with the hotel and staff. The room was spacious and comfortable. The continental breakfast was acceptable which we had served to us on the wrap-around veranda each morning. We did not dine at restaurant which is very highly rated, however we did have drinks one evening in the piano bar which was relaxing. The hotel is 2 blocks off the beach and very close to the pedestrian mall/ shopping. The hotel is owned by a hospitality group which also owns Congress Hall and Beach Plum Inn where you can utilize their facilities. Overall, I highly recommend a stay when visiting the Cape May area. We will definitely come back very soon.

We stayed for our mini moon. The staff was very friendly. The rooms were very spacious and nice and clean. The location was perfect. We walked everywhere. We stayed in the red porch, which had a nice balcony. The breakfast in the morning was simple but a nice touch. The only thing was that it was a little loud at night. Overall, we loved it .

Absolutely fabulous. If you are going to Cape May do yourself a favor and stay at the Virginia. Beautiful, clean, great staff, comfortable quiet rooms and the bar and restaurant (Ebbitt's) were the best we found in Cape May. Top flight.

I’m sure the hotel is wonderful, it sounded like a little bit of heaven, so we booked a nonrefundable four days that we were 100% sure we’d be able to use. My bad. In comes Tropical Storm Ophelia and the prediction of flooding, high winds, power outages and who knows what else. Add to that the fact that we are senior citizens with limited mobility, and to be stuck in that kind of weather with perhaps the possibility of evacuations was not something we knew we could handle.I wrote the hotel the day before to let them know we would not be arriving, and asked, nicely, if we could possibly get a voucher for a future stay. After all, they do have $1800 of my money. I know there are rules that can’t be bent most of the time. But I find it pretty bad that not even a voucher could be issued for a future stay. I understand the no refund issue, but not to be willing to issue a voucher for a future stay when they have $1800 of my money is pretty bad.So, word to the wise, don’t expect much touchy-feely service, and for Gods sake don’t book a non-refundable stay, especially if you’re a senior citizen. Lesson learned here, and unfortunately I can’t recommend this property.
