I recently ate here with my mom. The food was incredible. The atmosphere inside was wonderful. We were thrilled to see that they have upgraded the indoor seating area. Outside has always been great in the summer, but now it is a year-round go to place.

I have eaten here on numerous occasions and have held luncheon meetings here. The restaurant is always very neat, clean and well-organized. They have a wide variety of food available on their menu and they suggested several items to offer on a limited menu for group luncheons. My choices always seemed to satisfy our group. The food is always delicious, fresh and served quickly. The entire staff is very friendly and helpful. If you sit in the porch area, you can watch the river go by. They were very accommodating and offered our group a seating area away from the main dinning room, where we could enjoy our meal and hold our meeting. Since they are located in town and on the main street, there is only street parking available; but, I have never had a problem finding a parking space. It is great to eat here before or after enjoying a walk down the street to shop and window shop at the various shops lining the sidewalk. The restaurant is easily accessible. I highly recommend The River Mill View restaurant, which is known for consistently delicious meals. You will not be disappointed!

The manager or lead person of the restaurant was extremely rude and brusk. There was a medical emergency in the restaurant. An older gentleman in our party collapsed. He was rude before the incident. He wasn’t very nice to the family who was in need of emergency services. It was disappointing.
The other staff were nicer. It’s a lovely restaurant right on the water. I would suggest they do some customer service training.

If we ate in Italy, the food wouldn’t be this good. This is fine Italian dining in a rustic shack in a quaint little old town. The mushroom raviolis were paper thin not like the bulky dense noodles you get at regular NJ restaurants. The dipping oil turned plain bread into the most delicious garlic bread that my kids loved even though it was loaded with what looked like pesto. We actually asked for more with no shame. My daughter ate every noodle with marinara. All of our meals were anything but run of the mill NJ Italian. You have to buy wine by the bottle and I don’t think they have beer. I do wish they put signage up with the restaurant name. we walked past the restaurant twice and in circles since we came to the town for the haunted attractions. finally, after 30 minutes of walking past it twice, we asked a local who showed us.
⚠️SHOCKED AND APPALLED – WORST DINING EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE. My father ordered the flounder and, after only a few bites, began choking on multiple small bones hidden in the fish. Thankfully he could still breathe, but it was a terrifying experience.
When we informed our waiter while my father was struggling (clearly breathing deeply and drinking a lot of water), instead of showing concern or offering help, he argued and said, “I’m sorry but it’s fish, what do you expect?” — a backhanded apology with zero empathy. When we asked for a manager, he arrogantly replied, “You can speak to me.”
There was no manager on site, and when we insisted on speaking to one over the phone, the waiter kept trying to take our number instead. We told him to call the manager while we were standing there, and he finally did — handing my mom his iphone. The manager repeated the same dismissive comments: “Fish have bones, that’s it.” No apology, no concern, no attempt to make things right. The waiter even raised his voice at my mother while she calmly explained what happened.
To make matters worse, they charged us full price for the meal. When questioned, the waiter said, “Well, I came by and asked how it was, and you did say good.”
For a restaurant that charges $25+ per plate, serves only bottled wine (no glass options), and barely offers any bread, the lack of professionalism and basic human decency was appalling. We left disturbed and deeply disappointed by how this was handled.

Rudest service I have ever experienced. We had 3 small children at the table who are quite well behaved for their age. The staff clearly didn't even want to serve us and looked so disapproving of the children. They were rude, condescending and even sarcastic. It was so much work just to get the order in as they ignored us as best they could. I was extremely polite and kind in my responses and even left a very generous tip (I always do as I have little kids), but they continued to be so rude. I've never experienced such horribly mean service in my life.
