The Old Schallenburg Farm Stand has a small bakery within its food service offerings and there are some nice items to choose from. They make these cookies called "pie cookies" which are filled with items like cherry and lemon that are left over scrapes from the pies they bake. This little deep dish cookies are unusual and very good. I had the ones filled with lemon custard and I really enjoyed each bite as I toured the farm. During the Spring and Fall, the farm is a real treat.

This is the third time I have been to the Schraalenburgh Farm Stand, which is part of the Abram Demree Homestead, for lunch and it is a real treat on a nice day. It is nice to sit outside and relax and enjoy your meal. I had the Farm House Burger again on this trip and it is always good. The burger is huge and well-cooked. The fresh patty is cooked to perfection and well-caramelized on the outside and juicy on the inside and topped with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, chopped onion and a Thousand Island sauce. The side of French Fry wedges was good but not worth the $3.00 price tag and I had a Coke. It is nice to eat on the outside tables in the warmer months overlooking the working farm and then after lunch tour the farm, chicken pens and gardens. It is a nice experience right in the middle of the suburbs.
