Interesting basement restaurant and bar. Very good food, but when we went the noise was ear splitting, even the staff was complaining about a crazy birthday party they was going on. Very friendly staff, and we had typical bar food. Wide selection of beers, and decent sized menu. The burger was excellent, the farmers daughter pizza was good also

Went back to the Cranford Hotel tonight for the first time in years. Haven’t been there since Sal and Dawn worked the bar and Khalid served and Dave managed. It wasn’t the same. We had the worst server EVER. If she’d cracked a smile her face would have broken. So unpleasant. The food was ok. We realized we knew the manager from years ago and she recognized us as well, but she couldn’t be bothered to come by and say hello. For a place with mediocre food, there has to be something more. A sense of community maybe? There wasn’t. We won’t be going back again. Goodbye Hotel.

The Cranford Hotel is a pub for those not looking for a pub experience. No frat boys, but plenty of Guinness, excellent food, friendly staff, and the likelihood of running into someone you know and having a few laughs. Five stars is too few to rate the quality experience. Order a pint, order a burger your way with fries, and get your weekend started right.Parking: Park at the train station on South Ave and walk over. Street and lot parking is free after 6 pm.

I've been to cranford hotel twice now and have loved it both times. The staff is very nice and very attentive to my allergies. The food has always been delicious. I think about the Burrata pizza OFTEN. To die for. Really recommend this place.

**ANOTHER OVER-PRICED PLACE RIPPING OFF CUSTOMERS: AVOID AT ALL COST**I am so tired of these overpriced eateries serving molecular portions that are also of the poorest culinary quality. Mind you, I'm not expecting Chef Ramsay to make my dinner, but serving me a 2 ounce portion of highly-overcooked salmon with some boiled string beans and Heinz beans out of a can is really taking things to a new low. As a result of this, I complained to the waitress that the food was very sub-par. She did nothing to improve our experience. So, as someone that rarely complains, well I'm registering a complaint against this restaurant. So again, avoid this place due to the deliberate small portions and piss-poor food quality. Plenty of alternatives in the fine town of Cranford, NJ.

Visiting from Arizona, the Cranford Hotel highly recommended by a local at another restaurant. We were greated at the bar by Patty who was about as rude and as unfriendly as I've ever come across. I asked her for recommendations on drinks and she literally turned her back and walked away. After discussing her behavior with locals, we found out, this is not this first time she's driven customers away. Low and behold we found this amazing place called Vine & Oak across the street. We were treated awesome, the place was swanky and the food and drinks were 5 star. So happy Patty drove us away!!! That cr*p attitude doesn't work in the rest of the country.

This is one of my family's favorite places in Cranford. Love the location, love the historic ambiance, love the food. Since the restaurant doesn't take reservations, there was an hour wait (this is at 6 pm on a Sat), which is quite the bummer. We had the cheeseburger (one of the best I've ever had) with a side salad (instead of fries) and creamy Italian dressing (made by the restaurant and delicious), burrata pizza, and beef goulash.

The place is usually packed, the menu is ample and the food is great quality. Family ambiance and service is good. I would call ahead for reservation

The food is unbelievably delicious and so so good.So for the hire of the chefs, great job owners.A warm Autumn night, and we found ourselves at the Cranford Hotel. I love this place, for the food has always been top notch, service people have never been top there, but it has never been as it was last night. We arrived and there was a table for us, wonderful we thought, but when even my bf states it is cold, you know it is cold. He loves cooler conditions, but the winter garden area was just cold, so I let the staff know, and it was remedied, or so we thought. We were told, there’s a table right by the fireplace, oh you mean the fireplace that wasn’t even on and running, that fireplace, okay. So we were sat at a table with a direct AC vent hitting us on full blast, and the fireplace wasn’t even on. The person who took our order was either having a bad day or she is just not very good with people, or perhaps one just has to deal with it and put up with mediocre service and disrespectful niceties, I stated I didn’t want straws for us, and it almost seemed like she took personal offense to that, not really, but the attitude just began there.I let her know that we were moved from “outside” to inside, as it is cold, but that this direct AC vent hitting us full blast, while on a nice night, is still cold for an Autumn night, but I will try to deal. The AC went into colder mode, which is fine, just don’t put someone who states they are cold, directly under an AC vent. A table got up and I noticed that their tables were not under direct AC vents, so I asked if we could move, again, attitude coming from the person, I went up to the hostess who thought it was a good idea to sit someone who was cold, under a cold AC vent.As I didn’t who else to go to, so upon being there, I also let the hostess know she sat us under the vent, and I would like to move where those people got up, and the person “helping” us comes up, with attitude, and I was just done at that point.I get it, I was the, I am cold girl, but I am not asking them to change the temperature for me, I am not just getting up and sitting myself down, I am trying to go through the proper channels, to have an enjoyable restaurant experience. And then to add insult to injury, my bf apologized for “us being difficult”, to diffuse a tense situation between the service and myself, but I stood up for myself and said, I don’t apologize, because it is not us being difficult, we are just trying not to have a table with the vent blowing down hard, on the girl who is cold.Needless to say, it was not a good night, until the food came, which I almost canceled, as I was just done with the girls attitude, and done with “freezing ”.Terrible service experience, but with a delicious belly filling end.If I could have isolated and stated that if I tip the normal 23-28% that I do, knowing that it would only go to the amazing kitchen staff alone, I would have. But as that was not the case, I opted for a number I have never in my life given.Long story longThe food is absolutely worth the bad/disrespectful service experience ???‍♀️ and order the chicken, it is absolutely divine! Also, if you give a specials menu, knowing that a lot of it is eighty-sixed, don’t give it out without telling people which items are 86’ed.
