Craven BBQ is amazing - chicken is good, standard Portuguese BBQ but the standouts are the pork ribs and the fries! The ribs are the perfect combination of tangy and smokey. The fries aren't frozen resturant depot ones thrown into a fryer; these are fresh cut fried and kissed with a little slat. The best comparison for their fries are boardwalk fries. You won't be disappointed going there.

I been there now a few times now, we always order the same BBQ Chicken & appetizer Garlic Shrimp, to go, the (churrasco) BBQ Chicken has been delicious ever time, the garlic shrimp is so, so good, good fries & rice, my new place for Portuguese food take out.

We have eaten at craven for like 5x already and even ordered big batches for party!!! It has been amazing every single time. The servers are certainly very attentive!!!

Short review here of this Craven BBQ in Cranford, NJ. I picked up a meal from them last night and the food is pretty consistently well made. I've tried a variety of dishes previously and the chicken I seem to typically come back to. The grilled sardines are a particular stand out of mine but you gotta love sardines to eat them lol.... Staff has always been kind, courteous and the facilities are well maintained. This is a solid Portuguese BBQ in the area so give them a try if in the mood for tasty grilled meats!

Omg what a pleasant surprise, after reading most of the reviews posted on line about Craven BBQ I was skeptical about order food, but I did anyways, and boy oh boy I am glad I did!! The food is bomb. The rice was well cooked, the chicken was delicious and flavorful. My son is a picky eater and he ate all of his food chicken, rice, and fries (made me smile). I will definitely order from this restaurant again and again!!!!!!!

This is our go to place for take out when we aren't in the mood for pizza or Chinese... the food is delicious! The prices are fantastic! Absolutely love Craven BBQ!

I've been a regular customer for years because of the food, but not anymore. It took them 2 1/2 hours to deliver a $50 order with several promises of, "It'll be there in a minute" along the way. This was an online order at 5:30 on a weekday, with a 1/2 mile delivery. The last "it'll be there in a minute" was 25 minutes before delivery, and included a vague offer of a discount. Other fun tidbits: at the 45 minute mark they called to say they were out of something (surprise! it arrived in the order anyway, yet not the side of vegetables) BUT the food was just about ready... at the 90 minute mark I received a "Your order is ready" text. I called to make sure they didn't think it was a take-out order, but no, I was told it would just be a minute. At any point, they could have said, "Honestly, it will be a while." But you don't make your family other food if you were just reassured that the meal you paid for is finally, *Actually* on its way. No, you get them to the table, and you try to keep your toddlers from screaming by telling them how good the food will be, and you call the restaurant every 30 minutes, until you know better than to believe their "one more minute," and you give up and attempt to put your cranky kids to bed way too late and full of snacks. Did I mention they charged me the full price, delivery fee, and tip? Ironically, I would've been happy to pay that just for the knowledge that my food would never arrive.
Good food but only order from here if you have time to wait well beyond the "expected" time they propose.

just don't bother from here rice is ok desserts ate to be desired chicken all be it seasoned was really dry gravy was the consistency of water fries were undercooked the dry mild wings were the best part of our meal and even that we didn't finish ribs taste......fake? delivery driver couldn't take any instructions after waiting an hour and a half for our food and having to walk out to find the delivery driver in the wrong building. I tipped and wished them a good day. respectfully, don't bother from here. just pick up from Clark BBQ and thank me later if you made it this far into the review. to the business owner, we tried you guys 3 times and every time has always failed. best of luck, id hate to cook a meal for an hour just for it to go down the garbage chute!

Good food but the wait times are off. Every time I call to order they have underestimated the time by at least 20 to 30 minutes. Btw that's on top of their 20 min recommendation.

Second time trying this place, food is just not good.Take the extra 10 minute ride and go over to Clark, go to Clark Bar B Que that's also a Portuguese BBQ restaurant. Better yet take a 20 minute ride head over to Newark where you'll have several places to eat Portuguese and Brazilian barbecue!
